I have been working at Nestle Canada full-time

    Pros

    Work/Family/Balance, benefits, Good product discounts

    Cons

-If you can play the political game and position yourself strategically, you have a chance of being recognized for a promotion
-Leadership values are lost with many direct report managers, many don't live the values
-Encouraged to be an individual as long as you conform
-Find external candidates for Executive team outside of the Nestle Family - will do the company good
-Would loved to understand how many long term employees make it to 65 - most seem to be packaged out between 50 and 55

I have been working at Nestle Canada full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are several internal opportunities to move up the positions if you wish to do so but it entirely depends on the support you get from your manager.
Employee store has great pricing. Averaging at 40% off in general.
Exposuire to wide variety of businesses
Flex time (if approved by manager)

    Cons

    Outdated training manuals.
Time-off policies vary very significantly between each department. (such as flex time, working from home, ability to start late once in a while and work late to offset and so on)
No Vision Care provided directly in your heath insurance.

would recommend as an entry to the workplace

    Cons

    poor management
stuck in same role for life unless you know someone higher up in the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No office outside of Toronto or Calgary for Ont and West
Poor communication in the company is normal

I worked at Nestle Canada as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Hilarious hearing people running around in a panic over a caramel sauce shortage or peanut clusters that clump up.
Pays well - mat leave contract was paying me $34 an hour

    Cons

Absurdly high expectations with no support to achieve them. I had to chase down my own user profile and system accesses.
Extremely amateur - was brought in on a mat. leave coverage. The training did not live up to its own stated expectations of time to be spent, Training consisted of sitting in a chair watching. Wasn't given my own computer or phone and after 8 working days on the job (some of which I was literally left on my own within that time) was told that I had a week to be comfortable and confident in my role or they would have to find someone else - less than a week later was told it wasn't working out and walked out. And this after me not seeing about 40% of the actual job. Was on the job for a total of two weeks.
No desk top procedures to consult too which is basic Mfg. to have I thought.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start with putting together actual desk top procedures instead of screen dumps with bullet points and arrows by the person that is currently doing the job (thats called tribal knowledge and they shouldn't be writing their own due to potential personal agendas or overlooking some thing they see as routine)

I worked at Nestle Canada full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great opportunities for advancement and learning.

    Cons

Too much cronyism in the senior management. Management style seem s to go through an overhaul in philosophy every 5 years or so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen, I mean really listen, to the more junior employee ideas and give credit where credit is due. Not only to the suck-ups

I worked at Nestle Canada full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent pay, fun culture, company pride, good products, good benefits from being part of a huge global company.

    Cons

Lots and lots of 'old timers' who are resistant to change; advancement is not based on what you know but who you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are not 'arms and legs' or bodies; remember the people side and the commitment you get from your teams who make you successful.

I worked at Nestle Canada full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Stable, good products, good people (employees excluding local leaders Brampton office), dedicated worforce.

    Cons

Bad leadreship at the Brampton office, biased in promoting relatives and friends versus employees with dedication and commitement that have been with the company for long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cant really give any advise as it will be not accepted by the local leaders as they think they are untuchable and they know everything...but no one knows what works better than the employees that do the job day in and day out for years on end.
