Pros
Good culture (quarterly all hands meeting, fruit tuesdays, bagel fridays) and genuinely nice people are at the top of my list. The company is definitely a great place to work, and you never feel that the senior management is distant.
Cons
If you are fresh out of college, NetApp may not be the best place to start your career because you become easily satisfied and may never try to leave and challenge yourself. However, if your goal isn't to constantly seek new challenges, NetApp is a great place to be at.
Advice to Senior Management
I understand that there is visibility and within the program, and that there is TOAST for new employees. Perhaps set up a program that rewards people who have stayed there for 5-10 years and speak at those too and make employees feel special!
Pros
Lots of things to learn, very good engineers and technical directors to work with
Cons
Promotions are slow in India, expectations for the new role vary from person to person
Advice to Senior Management
There is process everywhere, but there is no correct measure for a promo.
Pros
there can possibly be no other place which has a better work life balance than Netapp. The exec team is extremely smart
Cons
the middle management is way too confused, works mostly on building their little empires rather than focus on the company goals
Advice to Senior Management
get rid of some of the fat that has accumulated between the brilliant exec team and the sharp engineering folks
Pros
culture, highly collaborative, focus on customers, focus on growth - company values are lived out across the organization. Company is not afraid to take risks to advance with customers & grow.
Cons
Nothing more than other companies - we all work through issues, conflicting objectives, and experience the occaisional policitcal move to get ahead....NetApp is a really solid company, well run, with high regard & respect for individuals.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing!! All good!
Pros
good people, interesting challenges, forward thinking work
Cons
improvements from industry experience are difficult to make. Home grown processes predominate.
Advice to Senior Management
open up more time and encouragement for making process improvements.
Pros
-Nice people
-Great pay
-Good location (in lovely CA, and also right off of the VTA light rail)
-Good benefits (for interns, really nice free housing; also, great gym)
-Some parts of company culture
-Emphasizes work-life balance
Cons
-Seemed very corporate
-Work not overly interesting
-People didn't really seem passionate about working there; it was just a job
-Slow debugging and release cycles
-NetApp seemed more interested in hyping up their company cultures than in actually *having* one. Sure, there were parts of NetApp that were cool, like the beer bashes, but for the most part I didn't find that I really bonded with my coworkers or that the company as a whole had much of a culture
I feel like this company would be an awesome place to work if I had a family and children that I wanted to be able to spend time with. However, as a nerdy workaholic in my low 20's, I want to find some work that I can be truly passionate about -- I want to *want* to spend all my time working, or with people from work. NetApp is a great company, but it's just not for me at this stage in my life.
Advice to Senior Management
This probably sounds prissy, but many other companies in the bay area provide free food for their employees. I often found that if NetApp had been providing dinner -- either free or at a cost -- I would have stayed at work longer or had a better motivation during the late afternoon. I think it might be something to consider.
Pros
NetApp is uniquely positioned in the storage industry - superior technology, software innovation, good support. Work environment is very positive, employees are encouraged to "think outside the box"
Cons
No obvious downsides to working at NetApp; some opportunities exist for tighter collaboration between headquarters support and the field organization
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work - communication to the employee workforce comes openly and often, and recognition for work well done is given freely.
Pros
Very Challenging and rewarding , open culture
Cons
lack of process on certain areas
Advice to Senior Management
improve certain processes and employee benefits
Pros
Competative salary
Relocation Amount
Yearly Bonus
RSU for new joinees
Work Life Balance
Working from home
Great culture
Good Managers
Cons
First year you won't get much increament in your salary.
Next year you will get good increment.
Anyway for new joiners has initial RSU option.
Advice to Senior Management
I think they can provide some tax plan's for employees. Right now most of the employees facing issues with Finance team.
Pros
The work culture is great. There is open communication at NetApp. I felt proud working for NetApp. I am looking forward to an opportunity to continue to work with NetApp once after my MBA studies. Core Values and Principles are emphasized really well.
Cons
The support staff at NetApp needs to be more polite and less arrogant. Its a great place to work and need to concentrate to become #1 storage solutions vendor in the market
Advice to Senior Management
It is a very great place to work, with open communication and good work culture. NetApp needs to maintain the same momentum without overweighing the already achieved success
