    Pros

There are some good people that work there. Tom Mendoza is very inspiring.

    Cons

Internal systems (ERP, etc.) are out of date. Gaps in system functionality are filled with manual, error prone, hard to track processes. Focus is get it done at any cost. Work harder not smarter.

    Advice to Management

People are over extended, working long days, weekends, and over holidays. Either hire enough people to do the manual work or invest in automation.

    Pros

Relaxed environment where you are trusted to get your job done. There is a culture of recognizing employees for doing something right, but this experience differs between departments and managers.

    Cons

There is a buddy system and if you are not on the list, work life can be more challenging. Everything is great and talked about until its not, then things go quiet.

    Advice to Management

The company experienced great growth several years ago, but it seems there are a lot of employees that are hiding out. Look for ways to consolidate and determine if job X really requires that many people.

    Pros

Flexibility, autonomy, fair pay, decent benefits, good culture, nice campus and work environment. I am fortunate to have a great manager, so that makes things great here.

    Cons

No growth, so fewer opportunities to advance, leadership at top doesn't seem to be able to respond to changing markets. Budget constraints right now, which makes getting things done even harder.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the company, pay less attention to driving bottom line to satisfy wall street. Short term it may be a challenge, but pulling back and cutting will not be the answer.

    Pros

Fantastic collaborative culture. Best storage technology out there with a future in hybrid cloud, flash and software defined storage. Good training and reasonable hours. Great customers.

    Cons

I feel that the culture is shifting a bit. As NetApp is making the transition to cloud there are growing pains such as retention. People are attracted to "flashy" new things. As a result, some newer folks know less of the culture and as result, SEs, TAMs and even PS are starting to feel like more of a commodity instead of an integral piece of an account team.

    Advice to Management

Ask more of your GEMs and AMs. Value teams more than individuals. Keep fighting for your place in the cloud - it's the best story of all storage vendors. At all costs keep the culture thriving. It's the heart of the company.

    Pros

The corporate strategy is sound, and the direction of the company is true. The products are still strong, and can hold their own in the industry, although the differentiation is not as pronounced as it used to be. NetApp is still a powerhouse in the industry, but is going through growing pains. However, the focus on the culture is strong. No one expects you to like everything you see, but there is a definite expectation that you will take ownership to change things. This willingness and openness to change is one of the biggest reasons I stay at NetApp. Every company has warts. Not every company is willing to examine and address them.

    Cons

As the company has increased in size, the ability to execute has been impacted. A period of rapid growth, combined with an increased product portfolio has required the company to grow faster than it was prepared to do so. The management team has grown, and as can be expected there are some B or C players in positions of leadership (in some cases, simply due to loyalty and tenure). True for many large companies, and NetApp is not immune.

    Advice to Management

There is great value in pushing decisions and accountability to the Sales team. This has allowed us to grow and respond quickly to changes in the market. However, given our size and growth aspirations, additional structure is required to ensure that the proper balance is maintained between speed of execution and the needs of the business. This is anathema to some of the old timers, but will be necessary in order to break through to the next growth area.

    Pros

great benefits, strong push for customer focused success in vision and purose

    Cons

Successful growth beyond the 5B mark started the decay of the original culture and is growing more toward a company focused on earnings and analysts opinions. The paying of dividends signified the departure of the drive toward rapid growth.
