YMMV but was the best place I ever worked.
Advice to Senior Management
start another NetQoS
Pros
Good culture, good people, good products. Relative to other companies that size, the benefits package was good and they reviewed salary twice a year. The employees care about what they're doing and about their customers. The products are probably top of the line for that space.
Cons
Somewhat political, rewarding hard technical skills more than softer "people" skills. May have changed since they got acquired by CA.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat all employees fairly.
Pros
Prior to the CA acquisition, company was nimble, smart, innovative, and had a great work environment. After the acquisition, things seems to be headed downhill. Not unexpected based on what I've heard about CA.
Cons
NetQoS is now CA. Red tape, ineffecient processes, slow to react, right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
Advice to Senior Management
NetQoS had a great run. Too bad it didn't last. Hopefully, CA will not tarnish the NetQoS brand name too much.

I hope selling to CA was the right thing. Time will tell.
Pros
They strive to hire only the best and brightest talent, therefore there are alot of smart and talented individuals to learn from. They encourage professional development. It's a small company, so what you do will have a bigger impact. Benefits and salary are average to above average. Performance reviews done consistently (1-2 times a year). They use latest technologies and have the tools we need to do our job more effectively.
Cons
Uncertain path, either acquisition or IPO (but not anytime in near future). You cannot work from home even though we have the means to, which in this day and age of technology is very disappointing.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership so far has been good. Our CEO is very hands on and does make an attempt to engage with all employees.
Pros
It's a smaller company so things tend to be a little more laid back and open than larger corporate places. Atmosphere is nice and good location in Austin.
Cons
Political atmosphere within departments. Not everyone is treated equally and not everyone is given the same professional growth opportunities, even if you speak up about it.
Advice to Senior Management
Have more insight into how mid-level manager's treat each employee on the team. Cut the fat, regardless of the political strings attached. If a manager isn't doing a good job, senior management needs to be aware of it.
Pros
Open book management policy. No politcal games; everyone is focused on success, growth. Lack of micro-management leads to greater job satisfaction.
Cons
It's hard to make network performance management sound as interesting to non-geeks as other technologies (e.g. virtualization, "web 3.0", etc.)

Stay focused on growing the company while keeping the same strengths-based culture.
Pros
No nonsense approach to the business. We don't have unnecessary procedures or red tape to slow things down. High committment to customer satisfaction. Employees are highly regarded and there doesn't seem to be any slackers.
Cons
Growing pains mostly. We're always looking for more space and equipment.

Stay the course
Pros
Company is growing and profitable. Huge commitment to employee satisfaction and growth. Marketing Communications and Sales were rockstar departments at NetQoS. Good growth opportunities in those departments. The company is driven by metrics and takes a close look at any issues that arise. They are forward looking and conservative about growing the company. Really invest in employee professional development and provide the tools to get the job done including top notch equipment, monitors, tools and just about anything needed to be productive.
Cons
Couldn't work from home. Old ideas about management in some cases. Could be more aggressive with growing the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more flexible work from home options. Cut the dead weight faster.
Pros
Salaries and benefits good. Growing company in terms of hiring and revenues. Good products with satisfied customers. Managers are open to ideas. CEO is very hands-on and interested in every employee and their role in the company.
Cons
Not much room for growth and advancement. Small company culture is being homogenized as the company grows. Too many people drinking the kool-aid of how great we are vs. looking at things realistically. We do try to hire the best and brightest, but we are not Google.

Company meetings are rare. This is detrimental to culture and morale.
