Review Highlights

Pros
  • They also offer good benefits with a lot of vacation/personal time but you will need every bit of it to stomach the place (in 3 reviews)

  • Health Insurance is great if you're young and healthy, not so much if you're a high risk individual (in 3 reviews)

Cons
  • Right now, there is no work/life balance - management does a terrible job of executing vision (in 5 reviews)

I worked at Netsmart full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The market for health management software is growing rapidly. Lots of good people there, lots of good minds. If this is your first job out of school, you can learn a lot.

    Cons

I worked for Netsmart for several years. This could be a good place to work, but the corporate culture creates an atmosphere where management by fear and intimidation is the norm.

Disorganized, and sometimes abusive. Managers have been known to shout or call out employees at meetings.
Very high turnover rate - people either quit, or are fired on an almost daily basis.
    Overtime is expected.
    Compensation is below average.
Bonuses and monetary incentives are a rare beast.
A good amount of product code is written in a language that has little use outside of the company.
Too many products that either sound or function the same way. Lots of bloatware.
Tuition reimbursement is a rare beast.
Difficult to get promoted or move laterally.
Plenty of time spent pushing the company brand, very little educating its employees.
Strong disconnect between what the company says it does for mental health and how its employees are treated.

This is a good job to get started in the software business, or to learn medical practice management processes. But, if you've been around a bit there's other companies that pay more, offer better opportunities to learn and grow, and give you a work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with the regular employees. Provide adequate training, and opportunities for employees to really learn the products they are working on. Ease up on the self-promotion. Spend time trying to figure out problems instead of rushing headfirst to fix things long after they've broken. Slow down trying to expand the company, and instead simplify the product line.

I have worked for Netsmart in a remote office (headquarters located in Overland Park, KS) and feel alienated.

I have been working at Netsmart full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Company values and products serve a very essential need for its clients.
    Benefits are good.

    Cons

Poor/non-existent product and training documentation for clients.
Inadequate procedures and training for associates, and training is always a very low priority.
Pay ranges for associates in the same job vary greatly and do not align with associates' experience and abilities.
Many of the clients are dissatisfied with the products and services so associates are often expected to address such issues, rather than complete projects assigned to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Netsmart full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, HR team was very engaging prior to arriving and helpful.

    Cons

Even with 3 weeks lead time prior to my first day, there was no real work for me to start on my first day. 3 weeks into it and there was no change. Was never fully or formally introduced to the team or systems I was expected to support and work with.

I worked at Netsmart full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, always willing to help. Good benefits. Compensation is ok.

    Cons

Movement to other positions within the company is limited. Work-life balance is out of whack. Be prepared to travel and work more than 50 hours to meet your target for a small bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize individual talents instead of trying to cram people in a one-size-fits all mold.

I worked at Netsmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers were great and very helpful.

    Cons

Management gave no direction and were quick to criticize. If you were not in upper management, you had no idea where the company was going. Take overs were HR functions. HR came in told us what the benefits were but nothing of future expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share the plan! The worker bees need to know what is going on.
