Pros
Communication from top is clear. Supportive management as long as we take the initiative. Benefits are competitive. People are helpful and knowledgeable
Cons
Firm is small so upward mobility is challenging. Benefits need to improve on the 401K match and annual pay increase. Stagnant for few years
Advice to Senior Management
Make 401K more competitive by matching a higher percent and dollar amount. Allocate more resources for employee training to improve skills and learn new technology.
Pros
The firm is like one big family. Decent location. Very easy to get along with all departments. Great senior management.
Cons
Difficult internal mobility. Pay could be better.
Pros
Try hard to allow work life balance
Cons
management structure needs big improvement
Advice to Senior Management
need to have management training classes
Pros
Community type atmosphere with the feel of a large asset management firm. Great people and very intelligent peers.
Cons
Small groups and limited opportunity to move within the firm
Pros
Great hours, ridiculously smart people, great atmosphere, one big family. Other employees are very accessible and are always helpful and informative.
Cons
Most people are entrenched. Implications are that the mobility is a little difficult; the workers are all experienced and are near end-career
Advice to Senior Management
Management seems to be moving the company in a strong upward direction. After recently leaving Lehman Brothers, the company has been working to maintain and expand its position.
Pros
Learn about the private equity industry
Cons
Day to day work involves lots of repetition
Pros
Pretty stable environment. Okay work/life balance.
Cons
Pretty boring place. Not much excitement
Pros
- Hours are great
- Experienced managers
- Great people (but varies by group)
- Opportunity for receiving greater responsibilities early on
Cons
- No training offered
- Same pay for interns across all groups/departments
- Internships last between 6-8 weeks instead of the usual 10
Advice to Senior Management
- Keep up the good work!
- Focus more on developing new hires
- Conduct on campus recruiting at top schools
Pros
Experienced, dedicated professionals.
Top-flight equity and fixed income research and money managers
Small firm, entrepreneurial flavor.
Cons
The firm is focused solely on investment management, so while growth in one's area is encouraged and possible, it is not always as easy to move to a different area within the firm as it might be in a multi-line firm.
Advice to Senior Management
To enable all employees to participate in equity ownership in this private firm, regardless of the area in which they work.
Pros
Good work place and location
Cons
no 401k and no room for career path
