I worked at New Jersey Devils as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, Nice People, Free Tickets to Games / Events

    Cons

intern farming, very little chance of being hired, unpaid

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Travel stipend – work it out with NJ Transit to give interns a rail pass, feel it's the least that can be done.

I worked at New Jersey Devils

    Pros

Great experience in the sports industry. It is the only sports organization that actually pays its interns.

    Cons

Work is repetitive and can be very dry without games. Manager is hard to reach and does not always have time to assign you work to do.

I worked at New Jersey Devils full-time

    Pros

You get to see some hockey games… tickets to give to your friends.. and a free shirt every now and then

    Cons

Where to begin…. There is no career growth whatsoever. "The whole hiring/promoting from within thing is not something that we're looking to do anymore"... That speaks for itself. You would think that with a change in management things would improve and the organization would look to turn to a positive direction… but all that's happening is great employees being let go for no reason, as well as employees who have been around for years leaving voluntarily due to all the negative aspects of working for the company. Upper level employees make it impossible to communicate and meet with their subordinates, and the pay… to put it lightly.. is just a joke. Overall this company just takes any fun away from working in professional sports!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting like you're too important to talk to anyone in a lower position than you… and start accepting the fact that no one wants to go to a Devils game. It's the simple answer to the question of why you're not meeting your overly optimistic sales goals.

I worked at New Jersey Devils part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Small company so there is exposure to every department. I was able to work on large significant projects. The company has a very positive direction and I am happy to have been a part of it.

    Cons

Little room for upward mobility and the pay isn't the best but that is what you get working in the sports industry. Wasn't always in the loop for company wide activities so better communication.

    Overworked

I have been working at New Jersey Devils

    Pros

Great experience working for a pro org, however even with new management and over-hiring of new staff still poor communication.

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance. Even with new management, roles are still not defined clearly. With overcrowding of new staff, still nobody knows what to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Promotions, company outings

I worked at New Jersey Devils as an intern

    Pros

You get to work during game nights and interact with fans, keeps you busy. Access to ice level when your job required it to be.

    Cons

No room for growth unless you're a favorite.

  10.

Experienced a lot of growth and growing pains with the organization.

I worked at New Jersey Devils full-time

    Pros

Looking to grow in many areas and are open to both conventional and unconventional ideas. Things have changed since departing the organization including a brand new ownership group and upper management. The change is certainly for the better.

    Cons

The benefits and pay structure. Roles were often pushed onto others for long period of time instead of fulfilling gaps in positions. Very time consuming - nights, weekends and holidays (that's sports!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to get more formalized processes through HR.

I worked at New Jersey Devils

    Pros

Fun, exciting sports environment. At my time there, season tickets were given to employees.

    Cons

There is an expectation to work extended hours during the season. Vacation time, and schedule flexibility were extremely limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
