I worked at New York Cares
Pros – The benefits are great, as is the casual work environment. They are very open to new and creative ideas, and allow you to work on projects that you are passionate about. Although they do not pay a lot, they make up for with generous amounts of vacation time.
Cons – They salaries are low, but probably comparable to other similar non-profits. There is not much room for promotions, and they give very small raises that are not based upon performance. As a result there is a pretty high turnover rate among managers.
Advice to Senior Management – Create more opportunities for advancement.

I have been working at New York Cares
Pros – Friendly folks, the opportunity to do good.
Cons – Job becomes stagnant after a few months.
Advice to Senior Management – Find a way to keep people around for longer than 2 years - that seems to be around the time that most people decide to leave.
