Pros
Top rated company, on-going education, great leadership
Cons
Way too many meetings that are mandatory. Way too much time required in the office and not in the field. Slow underwiring, constantly being asked to return to the client for trivial things, call-a-thons that last 12 hours and they are required! Charged for every little thing including, Internet access whether you use it or not, a cubicle, telephone, copies, fax's, and the list goes on.
Advice to Senior Management
"You may have hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting in the bank, but agents in their first 5 years are lucky to have enough money to pay the bills, LET UP ON THE MANDATORY MEETINGS!!"
Pros
Great comp and benefits. If you know anyone who loves someone or owes someone money they need what we sell. Clients are all over the place, you just have to look. Managment wants to see you succeed.
Cons
Not for the employee mentality. Must have the entrepenuer spirit. A good natural market helps too.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on selecting the right candidate.
Pros
A lot of training! Which is great you will learn fast and hard about being your own boss. Your hours are whatever you want to work. To make it there you will have to work at least 50-60 hours per week. If you are new in the biz you will have to do a ton of networking events. If you can afford too not make money sometimes you can really learn alot there.
Cons
It is Pyramid Scheme!!!!!!!!!! with money behind it there is no base. They want you to sell to all your friends and fam. I'm still in the biz doing all forms of insurance and makeing alot more money with less stress. If you need to mak at least 50K most people in the office dont com close don't be fooled.
Advice to Senior Management
give the new people leads so they have a chance to make it! Dont get them to take the job just to hit your numbers
Pros
Free dinners, free gyms, nice place, great cafe.
Cons
overworked...overworked..overworked..overworked...overworked....small fish in a big pond. Not my kind of place.
Pros
Great working experience. Learn alot of things with the great people you work with. Everyone is friendly.
Cons
Work environment is not that great. Some of the cubicles are old.
Advice to Senior Management
Integration of the generations are crucial in order to survive in the market.
Pros
Chance to meet a lot of differenet types of people
Cons
Lack of self-motivation leads to fail
Advice to Senior Management
Too greedy
Pros
The best thing about New York Life, for me, is there has never been a shortage of help. I have been with the company for a year now and still have plenty of help from the management staff any time I need it. 100% commission is also a great feature because I do not see myself as being average so therefore I did not want an average paying salary. If you was someone to hand you leads and referrals you need to go to another company that will pay you a $20,000 base and less commission.
Cons
I think the only down side to this business, not only New York Life, is the rejection from prospects on a daily basis. This job is not for someone who gets their feelings hurt easily and you must be able to take rejection and learn from it.
Advice to Senior Management
Some fees such as $75.00 a month for FTIS help should be charged on a case by case basis. I do not think that I should have to pay the fee if I never call the help desk and ask for help.
Pros
I am building my own business with complete control of my career while helping people provide financial security for their familes. New York Life has the best products in the industry, has the highest financial ratings, and offers many paths for agents including moving towards advanced financial services or moving into management. Training program is unmatched in this or any other industry. I have had a lot of success, and 3 years into it have never made a cold call.
Cons
You get paid very well, but only for the work you do. As with any business, you must sell yourself and your products to be successful. This can be very challenging for those used to getting a steady paycheck, or for those not willing to get out and interact with people.
Advice to Senior Management
Find agents who are coachable, who have the heart to serve and educate their clients, and who will earn their success not those who feel entitled to it.
Pros
Helpful management takes care of you.
Cons
No salary is a con when getting started out.
Advice to Senior Management
Help more in the field.
Pros
great pay, great bonuses, unlimited income potential, great benefits (pension)
Cons
extremely tough industry, low retention rate
Advice to Senior Management
teach employees how to prospect better
