I have been working at New york Foundling full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good supervision both individual, group, and license specific; small case loads; interdisciplinary collaboration professional development.

    Cons

Professional development is limited to those that the company deems worthy of investing in

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Greater transparency with regard to shifts in structure and locations

I worked at New york Foundling full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Each office seems to have a different culture, but in my office, management was competent and caring. Most co-workers were willing to help each other out. Time off was decent, as long as you could fit it into a busy schedule. Organization is fairly well run compared to other nonprofits.

    Cons

Little acknowledgement of accomplishments and hard work. It can take a long time to figure out how to fulfill numerous job responsibilities within a manageable work week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have regular meetings to discuss changing policies and procedures with staff and get feedback.

I worked at New york Foundling

    Pros

I learned SO much from my supervisor and became a much better clinician.
I had a very positive relationship with coworkers
    Good pay

    Cons

    Over worked... it never ends
no home work balance. There is no "turning it off" when you arrive home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand workers are not full of endless energy. The "what ever it takes" attitude about clients should not be at the expense of those working. this is why the agency loses great workers!

I have been working at New york Foundling full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Good coworkers and boss
    -Great experience
    -Enjoyable environment (at times)

    Cons

    -Overworked
    -Underpaid
-7 hours a day is not enough to complete a day's task, sometimes have to take work home

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's non for profit so I don't expect a bonus or a raise...or a decent salary. But acknowledgement, and a receptionist, would be nice.

I worked at New york Foundling full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They understand that you have a personal life ..they are ok with you taking time for medical appointments. .things like that

    Cons

I worked there and at first everyone seemed nice and like a family. Well that was wrong people in high position where having personal relationships with the people they supervised,..they allowed them to not do work and asked the workers in Lower positions to complete the work. They dislike Latinos, yes you will see latinos working there but it's because they place them in position that won't allow them to grow. When they do "promote" some is not because they can do the job is because they like you and feel you will follow orders without asking. For someone to move up in that company you must brown nose , have inappropriate relationshipa, be a follower, malicioso, and not be a leader .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They must clean house..

I have been working at New york Foundling as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The employees are a breath of fresh air in the cold, large city. They all are fantastic individuals that work hard to do wonderful things for the non-profit. Everyone has a life outside of work and they definitely support the happiness of their employees.

    Cons

Sometimes communication can be challenging with different departments, but they are all so understanding and everything can be achieved with an extra email or asking other sources of information.
