    Good staff, many smart people
    Ranked high against industry peers.

    Cons

Organization has been in the red for some time.
    Below market pay.
    High stress and heavy workload
Almost all of management is in CYA mode.
    Understaffed
    Old school financial culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Newedge full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits such as paid time off, 401K and health. Co workers were great to work with and helpful.

    Cons

Poor management on all levels. Some managers won't even bother to say hello when they see you. They don't have your back with other departments. No checks and balances. Make a mistake and your on your own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire and train better managers.

I worked at Newedge full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, the environment is very challenging, but rewarding.

    Cons

Company benefits such as tuition, paid time off and insurance are by far the best I've seen in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The environment at Newedge is changing due to the regulations in the industry. However, there are no proper programs to guide and train staff to become familiar with the new regulations. I highly suggest that training programs are implemented to improve the performance of staff.

I have been working at Newedge as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    $15/hr with no responsibility
Good culture, everyone was very nice

    Cons

Extremely boring, and not challenging at all
Much of my time was spent reading news articles
Difficult to network because the internship is not part of any program

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This role could probably be cut completely, but it is a good opportunity

I worked at Newedge full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Offered very competitive benefits. Great location for commuting.

    Cons

Leadership is awful. Mid-Level Management is the worse I ever seen. The ability to kiss butt and stroke egos has more weight in this company than your ability to competently complete the job. Unfair bonus and raise structure. Office gossip and drama just way too much to deal with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate work based on performance. Pay more attention to compliance and regulations. Institute a less discriminative pay structure.

I have been working at Newedge

    Pros

Expected to do a little bit of everything. Gives one a better exposure of the business as a whole

    Cons

Disorganized. The company was formed just prior to the financial chrisis. Business model never updated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company is in the process of being bought out. I think this will be a positive to those who survive

I have been working at Newedge full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to learn the markets.
    Good benefits.
    Decent pay.

    Cons

Many managers found their jobs because of who they know, and are not properly vetted.
French are often given the fast track on managerial positions, to the detriment of others.
    Very little job mobility.
Lack of recognition and promotion for the people actually doing the hard work.
    HR department is not helpful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire proven industry managers.
    Promote the do-ers.
Support staff is the bread and butter of the company, show them you care.
Make sure that the projects you undertake are going to be profitable, or build efficiency.
Let people work remote from time to time.

    Pros

It is a huge firm. You can learn quite a bit since they have a little bit of every type customer on the Futures side of the business.

    Cons

Upper management is way out of touch. Politics is the rule here, and if you don't mind a brown nose you will do just fine. Advancement is left for only these people no matter how well they do their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eye's! Make sure the good workers get noticed and credit for what they have done.
