I have been working at Newell Rubbermaid full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great corporate office, competitive salaries for area, proximity to good Atlanta suburbs, talented workforce in most positions. Tuition reimbursement program for higher learning. Flexible work hours in most positions. Global reach.

    Cons

Company is a serial re-organizer. Things have recently started to stabilize under new CEO, but "Growth Game Plan" initiatives haven't made a major impact to many facets of the company yet. Must be self starter to get recognized and promoted. Doing status quo competitently isn't enough to advance. This is both a pro and con.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more effort developing talent already within organization, more transparency on long term plans from middle mangers to individual contributors.

Great place to excel if you don't mind playing a cut-throat corporate game and taking advantage of others.

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Nice work environment (corporate headquarters)

    Lack of respect from management
Secretive and elitist management styles are common
    Lack of team collaboration

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lacks candid communication and human-to-human interactions. Instead, bus-throwing and backstabbing excelerate people through the ranks. Hard work and positive results play a distant second to politics.

I worked at Newell Rubbermaid full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Decent Benefits
    - Willing to promote early (after about 3 months tenure)
    - People are nice.

    Cons

    - Not a very good work/home life balance.
    - They restructure it seems every other year and layoff a ton of people. It's needed though due to the many years of excessive overhead.
    - No matter how hard you work for them, they aren't afraid to lay you off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When hiring new upper management, you should ensure they understand the businesses and their unique business needs before letting them start cutting positions. Decor GBU is gonna be tough to pull off without a solid customized e-commerce experience built (configurator). And I'm not talking closet configuratiors either. :)

    Pros

    Nice office
    Gym on-site
    Cafeteria
    Employee store
    International ops

    Cons

Company is doing lay-offs in the next 3 years. Shutting down US ops and In Europe to ship them to 3rd world countries. Leadership asks employees to save 50 million dollars in 3 years while de CEO took a bonus during his first year which only were 6 months of 25 million dollars!

I have been working at Newell Rubbermaid full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Newell is quite competitive in salary. The benefits are good, the office building is very nice, equipped with a caferia, a gym, free sodas on every floor and lots of work space. Management also preaches work/life balance and encourages flex time and jeans to work everyday. There are also many divisions/brands for people to move around.

    Cons

Promotion opportunities are limited unless you are in Sales and Marketing. The company has been going through some major structural changes for the last 2 years. Morale is low because people fear of losing their jobs.
