I worked at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Generous and flexible when it came to work schedule and time off. Interesting technical challenges.

    Cons

An engineer is suppose to solve problems; that was part of the job. But as each week passed, the pressure was to respond to ever more demands for reports which my superiors often acknowledged were of little value; but that did not stop the trend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Separate clerk work from engineering work.

I worked at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank

    Pros

Very helpful company. Senior level people worked with junior associates on a weekly basis helping overcome obstacles they faced.

    Cons

Unfortunately the office was located in Rosemont so the commute was long and tiring. Not ideal for someone who wants to live downtown.

I worked at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Internal access to many resources like graphics dept., admin support, etc.

    Cons

There is a sub-culture where doing the right thing isn't always done. This seems to happen when you chase big money. A few huge egos.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a different pay structure that is not so "winner take all" and support more team work.

I worked at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the coworkers are really nice, but unhappy and afraid when dealing with management.

    Cons

Management is absent and really disconnected. Pay and benefits are subpar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

After a big merger two years ago, the company has been slow to adapt to the needs of its employees. The company prides itself on technology, but they have too many IT problems on a daily basis. Salaries for non-brokers are also very low. It is all too common to be overworked with little compensation.

Expect an upward battle if you approach upper management with anything that needs to be changed. CHANGE IS SLOW HERE, AND IT'S VERY UNWELCOME. The only big changes that happen are when key employees leave because the upper management would rather wear its employees down than boost them up. Culture is non-existent unless you're a "bro."

Overall, the company is too cheap (still making its money back from the merger), so they resort to hostility instead of improvement.

I have been working at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Each office is an individual part of the greater company giving some offices the potential to be better work environments than others.

    Cons

Undergoing incredible amounts of internal change which results in disorganized confusion. Employees required to choose between minimal bonus, minimal overtime or minimal pay increase. Very hard to grow with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People respond to incentives, the work product they produce is incentive based. Taking away all incentives and replacing them with doubt and uncertainty, leaves a company with the least talented of its employees and encourages the most talented to move on.

    Poor quality of work life

I have been working at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Competitive salaries and okay benefits.

    Cons

Company has poor communication, little focus and trouble communicating overall mission. this is not an employee friendly company with an abundance of money spent on high salaried "strategic planners" who don't seem to bring anything concrete to the table. actual profit centers are short staffed and overworked. Appreciation and thank you's are non existant. There is little value placed on employee's and as long as there is a bottom in a chair its all good. Disappointing experience and after six years its time to give up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Respect your workers.
