Pros – Probably the best training out there for a sales role in the CPG world. Direct access to senior executives across North America. Clearly laid out promotional plan from Account Coordinator to Account Associate, to Account Director, to Sr. Account Director to Group Sales Manager. Fantastic compensation and bonus packages.
Cons – Very little opportunity for advancement beyond Account Director level. Preference giving to News America Marketing employees for US transfer (NMC is the Canadian office of NAM). Asked to compromise integrity and lie to clients in an effort to increase revenue. Ex. late fees, gas tax etc. A lot of turnover. Very few employees who have been with company for more than a couple of years. Worst office politics I have ever encountered.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to value your employees for their accomplishments, not who they hang out with in the office.
