    Re-organization and downsizing caused stress among employees

    Pros

    Good network of additional courses to be taken to learn more about the Oil & Gas industry

    Cons

    Ran out of work during my summer term, but was able to find more work that needed to be done.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing I would change, very good company in terms of learning opportunities.

    Pros

    The teams I worked with were very friendly and helpful - everyone pulled together to get a job done. There was a good amount of support from the managers and team leads on projects as well.

    Cons

    Going through an economic downturn was not funm, but not the companies fault either.

    Advice to Management

    Senior Management should try to communicate more down the line.

    I have been working at Nexen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good compensation. Flexible benefit packages, compressed work week options (couple of fridays off per month in exchange for slightly longer days). Useful in house training.

    Cons

    3 yrs of change and uncertainty have taken a toll on employee morale. Lots of retirements have opened up promotion possibilities but the company has also contracted due to selling off domestic properties.

    Advice to Management

    Continue the emphasis on the core business of producing but don't abandon the socially responsible values.

    A lot of great and nice people have either been laid off or left.

    complicated procedures on everything. It is hard for new hire to focus on work

    Pros

    Great compensation and benefits. Wellness subsidy. Compressed work schedule - Two Friday's off per month. Corporate events. Great community.

    Cons

    New management with new corporate goals and objectives - trouble understanding exactly what those are at this time
