    I have been working at Next Retail part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -You get 25% discount
    -Uniform allowance is very good
    -Products are very nice
    -Rota system is very good as you can view from home.

    Cons

    They are very manipulative, they will always step over your hours especially if you're under 18 as you are cheaper to bring in.

    Higher Archy system is well set, if you're new or temporary you're treated like pure scum being given terrible jobs and spoken to like a degenerate.

    Managers have no respect for other employees, and will always feel like they're having a go at you. (Only recently were they fighting in there Christmas party).

    People who are there longer or more well known tend to be bullies and act like they're managers as they lounge around or flirt with other member of staffs.

    You have no flexibility at all, if they give you a shift put of your availability you're expected to work it. Many people have quit working for next as they are failing A levels due to work load from next.

    Customer are quite aggressive and annoying, on various occasions I have seen girls leaving shop floor crying due to horrible customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop acting like you're posh and all high and mighty. Take your employees feeling and thoughts in to considerations.

    Discount Card, Lovely Staff, Supportive Management, Great incentives. Excellent support system. Bonus system. Great customers who are very friendly. Great Hourly Rate! - Company car!

    Cons

    Red weeks, EOSS, Working boxing day! 4.30 Starts! Late delivery divers! Limited hours, Small Contracts.

    Management are lovely! Very helpful. - Depends on what type of manager they are but most are out going

    As a company, you cannot fault Next for the Profesional way in which they strive to deliver the highest quality to every customer.

    Cons

    communication between departments could be improved

    if management stick to procedures that they put in place, it is possible that there staff will follow procedures. and a look at the way deliveries are put together, as well as the way items are picked , could and will produce a great saving not to be sniffed at.

    Pros

    Excellent company to work for. Staff discount. Bonus scheme. Building great relationships with work colleagues. You get to learn loads about the product and how to seek it in order to maximise sales.

    Cons

    Working weekend... But who in retail doesn't. Can't have time off in red weeks, all of December, and two weeks in July. This is when the eoss is on. Also limited time of in September and March when they will hold their mss.

    Pros

    Excellent management who were supportive and nurturing.
    Fantastic training that was thorough, well designed and executed with excellent follow up support.
    Varied job roles and excellent opportunities for progression.
    Cared about your own development and objectives and provided opportunities to reach these for those willing to put in the time and effort.
    Great pay - excellent bonus, monthly and seasonally.
    Great concessions - 25% discount, Staff Shop access and VIP Sale.
    Good long term support and appraisals.
    Overall - great, fun and lively working culture, sometimes damaged by business changes.

    Cons

    Constantly changing goalposts.
    A lot of pressure on staff which can affect morale.
    Difficult to get time off and unrealistic management of holidays.
    High degree of flexibility and resilience required.
