    Pros

    - Relaxed and Friendly Atmosphere - Good pay and relocation stipend - Large company, lots of room for growth

    Cons

    - Close to 100 summer interns were hired, seemingly not enough project work for all of them - Some projects do not represent what work in industry would be like. Too basic or completely unrelated to engineering field

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Nexteer Automotive full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers, close to home, & opportunity to learn new skills.

    Cons

Low pay for what you do across the board, there's no incentive, contract agreements not met, forced overtime, benefits, you can work at Nexteer for over a year & not be permanent, supervisors take you & your work for granted, communication is very bad, this company over looks quality. The goal is parts & more parts...this is without the concern of anything else.

    Advice to Management

Communicate, keep promises within the contract, understand your workers worth & stop overlooking the quality of the product.

    Pros

They give you the opportunity to create a good job for yourself with no college education required. You get health care benefits and so on.

    Cons

I was only there for the summer while waiting to go back to college. It didn't bother me to much but doing the same thing over and over can get boring at times. I was saving for college so it wasn't to bad either, but the forced overtime ALL the time can get annoying.

    Advice to Management

I am going to school for engineering, and some of the engineers there really dismiss the workers that work on the products when there is something that goes wrong on the line. These people are working on them day in and day out, they're going to notice things that can be changed. They just get the cold shoulder sometimes and it makes them spiteful.

I have been working at Nexteer Automotive full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice co-workers (normally). Relaxed dress code. Some times you are lucky enough to be by natural lighting.

    Cons

Terrible management. Clueless executives. Dishonest to their employees. Lower than average pay scale. Chinese owned company with a French CEO, German VP, and a hilarious vow to support the Saginaw area (but are currently moving part of their workforce down towards Detroit).

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves; then start over. Salary negotiations... have them. You might be able to keep your best employees that way. Also, flexible work schedules might be a good alternative to not having negotiations. A simple "here is your merit, deal with it" mentality is not going to cut it in today's world.

    Pros

Great group of people to work with,

    Cons

    Pay is low for engineering.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they would make if they drove down to the Oakland County area. This is why employees are leaving.

    Advice to Management

Bring "fun" into the workplace to attract young talent.

    Pros

Nexteer Automotive cares about their employees and they are consistently trying to find ways to improve.

    Cons

The downside of Nexteer is that they have a lot of contract positions and it can sometimes be difficult to get promoted to a salaried position.
