    Pros

NextLabs has an amazing team, that works hard, plays hard and gets it done. The products are rock solid, the customers love us, and the market opportunity is incredible. The company is growing fast . The customer base is awesome and includes top players in all the verticals.

The CEO has vision, direction and drive. He challenges and brings out the best in you.

    Cons

This is a fast paced start up that requires you to play at the top of your game. You cannot kick back here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hiring more PMs to take lessen the work and stress loads on management would be a real benefit for all employees.

The CEO with Napoleonic complex is a verified idiot! RUN, do not walk in the opposite direction.

    Pros

Multi-cultural and some smart engineers who enjoy masochism

    Cons

Besides the great technology in the field of info-security by some original engineers (long departed) there is really nothing to the company that would make resemble a modern technology startup. Everything revolves around the "short little Napoleon" CEO and his inflated ego and preposterous sense of self. The valley is replete with stories about why with the greatest technologies in previous years, he cannot make any company public and always ends up selling the company or the technology as an exit strategy. The guy is simply ridiculous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is only one person with decision making power...the CEO. Advice to him: commit suicide! You are not a human being, but a caricature of one...like a silly villain from a Johnny Quest episode (the children's animation series)

Great if you're willing to make a difference

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Work on something meaningful - challenging business problems impacting large companies and new category defining products
Collegial work environment, flat and apolitical organization
Merit based performance and promotion process

    Cons

Greater transparency around business performance beyond the management team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Making individual contributors in the trenches realize the value they're providing. Since the software is sold to large companies and not a household name, it can be hard for a person not involved in the sales and marketing process to understand their value.

    Pros

    Good technology and smart co-workers

    Cons

The CEO meddles in every single detail. He started and sold Kiva - my advice would be to check out what he has done since.

    Pros

Location if you live around the Peninsula area but that is about it, no professional benefits at all

    Cons

    Severely micro managed
Zero growth or even chances of it
    No trainings or education promotion
New ideas shunned upon or not even acknowledged

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is 2013, the company runs like its is 1990s!
No advice to management as it simply does not care!

    Not bad, not great.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Small company with opportunity to make a difference, working as part of a small team. Not a negative environment, but neither is it a place to expect significant career growth.

    Cons

Lack of empowerment, delegation. Centrally managed, micromanaged. Opinionated leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to delegate and trust. Consider the career advancement opportunities of the employees. If no room to grow, it's easy to get bored when the routine doesn't change.
