I worked at Nice-Pak as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Learn a lot, flexible work time although i chose to come early since you get to go home early, the people in the QC lab are just great, boss takes us out for free lunch sometimes, free birthday cakes

    Cons

Upper management, the company does not care about employees' safety, laboratory hood is not working but they don't want to invest some money to get them working (Note: Nicepak makes $1 billion/YEAR)

Lots of work ( people are great to work with but they get stressed out because of the work load and that lead to ARGUMENTS)

LOW PAY, EMPLOYEES just come and go because of low salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay to retain more of your employees; improve on laboratory safety; practice GLP

    I worked at Nice-Pak full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Top-to-bottom, this company's people are passionate about wipes and wellness.
Products and service are valued by some of the most admired retailers in the country.

    Cons

CEO controls every activity, every decision, every idea, every single day.
Literally, hundreds of competing "top priorities" across a broad swath of businesses, horribly mis-managed.
Cut-throat culture of "not my fault, your fault" finger-pointing.
Lack of accountability borne from CEO's insistence on micro-managing every decision made at all times.
Pretends to be profit-motivated, but not-so-secretly topline obsessed. Won't walk away from "bad business" ever.
Revolving door at the highest level (just below CEO) for reasons noted above.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What you've read here on Glassdoor is pretty much spot on. Despite the earnest desire of its people to fix what ails it, like any struggling company, the commitment to do so must be supported and led from the top. Unfortunately, the top in this case doesn't recognize that the disenfranchisement below stems directly from an inability to trust in others and delegate accordingly. Painful to watch, even more painful to be a part of.

Most of the recent reviews are inline with the current company- not much more to add.

I have been working at Nice-Pak full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good company to get a new grads 2-3 years experience.
    Competitive benefits.

    Cons

Company is very much disorganized with an extremely low morale.
Any talent leaves within 1-3 years, if a company doesn't want to improve why stay.
    Financial instability.
    High turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take ownership - while previous comments about the ownership are not untrue, good management finds a way to make things happen. Being a yes man is not a criterion of successful management.

Bizarre culture without clear direction. The most disengaged group of senior management I've ever seen. A canoe floating randomly in the ocean.

    Pros

An interesting business that is very under developed.

    Cons

Everyone is in fear of their jobs. Anyone with talent will leave. This is not a learning or training environment. It's a low energy environment. Lots of soldiers who piqued years ago. Definitely stuck in the 80's. Not forward thinking. Not for a person straight out of college.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to younger people and their ideas. Engage with your employees and you would be surprised what you learn. Offer retirement incentives to bring in fresh thinkers.

    Nicepak chased me away.

I have been working at Nice-Pak

    Pros

Starts you out at a a competitive salary and then you stay stagnant. Five to fifteen cent raises per year will not retain top talent. Managing from a reactionary standpoint instead of being proactive. Very high ceiling for potential however will direct management to deal in popularity contest instead of dealing in dollars and cents.

    Cons

Will continue to chase top talent away because they are determined to have people in charge that have a poor moral compass. The decision makers are two weeks behind the curve. Refuse to listen to the talent that keeps the place running. Too big to run like a mom and pop..... It's a shame.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn appreciation vs. Expectation. Management has no clue of what it is takes to do the job, so they can not appreciate the people that perform the job.

    Pros

Good place for a recent graduate to start life.

    Cons

If you have some experience and looking to grow your career, this is not the place for you. Systems/Processes are so dated. Management has no clue on what they are doing. Very high turnover rate even at VP level that should pretty much tell you everything you need to know

    I worked at Nice-Pak full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great Salary, excellent Benefits & innovative products!

    Cons

Rude and condescending upper management in addition to the most antiquated systems I have ever worked with. I'm not sure which of the two was worse, being spoken down to or taking hours to complete a project that could have been done in a few minutes if the systems allowed you to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to change the culture, you have to start from the top. Directors are often times rude and condescending with all departments and that is unexceptable. You will never retain talent if the environment does not change. It will cost you more to continuously retrain new employees because your employee turn over is so high.

    Pros

Sorry to say-none except building is in a countryside setting.

    Cons

Any of these reviews that are above three stars must be planted by their management for damage control. For one, a place that makes wipes for cleansing has filthy restrooms.

Some managers are unprofessional in their manner and their skill set. If you come from any real CP company this is quite obvious. There are constant petty power struggles from owner's cronies who should really be paid to stay home an not come near people who want to make a successful product. First clue of company's ineptness is the turnover of employees. The HR dept is ineffective to comply with decent workplace values because their paid by a management who does not care. Go into the companies lunch room and you will find that they are to cheap to even supply napkins are plasticware. Instead there is a roll of a brown roll of janitorial paper for you to use. Employees are jammed together in tiny work spaces also making for a stressful work place.

It is a not a real plus to list this on your resume since it is not considered real cpg company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell it. The damage seems to be done for this place and reputation. If the name of the company is mentioned to others from real consumer products company they just shake their head like a bad joke.
