Poorly organized, no training, lack of leadership

Retail Store Manager (Former Employee) Nashville, TN

ProsLoved the location and the employee discount

ConsNo work/life balance. They need to upgrade the company with new technology that would make communications easier.

Advice to Senior ManagementTheir District Managers lack wisdom in many situations. They need lots of training.

Revolving door (NYC corporate office, accessories division)

Designer, Nine West Handbags (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsJob security (if you actually want to stay)
Brand name looks good on resume - high volume of sales
Coworkers were nice people and competent/good at their jobs

ConsLow morale - the way things were run had the mid-level employees feeling stressed, overworked, and underappreciated, which led to low morale and negativity. I was not happy with my work-life balance here.
Very high turnover - I was here under a year and within a year of me leaving more than half of the division peaced out (all levels from management down to assistants).

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be a change in the way management treats the employees and retaining talent.
Things that would make people happier would be a better work/life balance and some perks.

ConsIf you like having every weekend and every holiday to yourself, this is not the place for you. You can have a couple of them off though.

    Great atmosphere, not very structured.

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) Memphis, TN

ProsI was able to become a key holder to an assistant manager in less than six months. I had a great store manager, whom I learn a lot from.

ConsThe company isn't very structured. Payroll hours are very low, allowing sales associates to work only on the weekends. Most of the time, it's only one manager working. It also seems like they're pushing for online sales over store sales. I'm pretty sure 9 West will become like Zappos.com and only sell online.
