    Pros

The people are great to work with. Most of them are polite and respectful, even when under pressure.

    Cons

It's a law firm, so there is not much room for advancement, but they do try to promote from within the company.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key, but keep it succinct and to the point. We need time to do our jobs.

    Pros

Very high quality work. You usually get more responsibility than peer firms earlier in your career. Decent work / life balance compared to some firms. No tolerance for jerks. Generally, there is a good atmosphere that is collegial. Partnership prospects are pretty good.

    Cons

Work / life balance is better for some than others. Compensation could be better. There is some bitterness among associates regarding compensation, especially mid-level and senior associates. While the experience and mentoring is good, I think it's not enough to keep associates from going to greener pastures because compensation is below market.

I have been working at Nixon Peabody full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, does not seem like a "typical" cut-throat law firm. Most people are very friendly and easy to get along with. It is fast-paced, but not TOO fast . . .

    Cons

Getting a bit more of a corporate feel, but that is to be expected given its size and the state of the economy.

    Advice to Management

It's important to cut costs, but keep employee benefits at a level higher than the rest of the market in order to keep the best and brightest!

    Pros

Good work environment overall, management is open to initiatives and new ideas and will give some latitude as long as there is a realistic upside.

    Cons

It's a big firm. It has chased the latest trends and overpayed lateral partners. Serious turnover around the margins (i.e. in the San Francisco office), although this has stabilized recently.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up. a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a that's all.

    Pros

Work surroundings. People. Benefits. Praise. Respect. The Marketing people are great. There are some great people there, which is rare in a city full of miserable people.

    Cons

Law firm. Lawyers. They do live up to the stereotype. Demanding. The Marketing people are great though. They all work to much.

    Advice to Management

They should value employees life away from work more. People work too much there. But they respected my need not to.
