I have been working at Noble Energy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Noble has pretty generous salary and bonus packages, but the standards for the bonuses are pretty high. They are given at individual amounts, but on the achievement of a group. If the group misses the objectives by even a cent the bonuses are not given that year. They are annual. Raises are also only given to keep up with inflation. And they are constantly giving "deprotions" - lots more work deserving of a raise and new job title, but you get the work and no more money and no new title.

    Cons

They will work you to death with no acknowledgement or praise or pay. Corporate culture is cutthroat and dishonest. They screw their partners, their suppliers and their employees. Upper management keeps morale low at all times. No employee could ever keep up with all the work thrown at them. Leading positions at the company are given out by upper management to people they have worked with in other companies (BP). Very little opportunity internally, because all of your bosses will be from BP. There is corporate tuition assistance, but they will pick what you may study, and there will be no time to do so anyway because you will have no free time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lighten up and realize that your employees are people first and not just producing machines. Promote from within. Honor your bonuses. Deal with others honestly and with transparency

I have been working at Noble Energy full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good pay/benefits. Good office environment - nice/likable coworkers - minimal politics. Growing company with a lot going on and company will find a way to utilize your talent. Many intelligent and dedicated employees operating under solid executive leadership. Would recommend without hesitation.

    Cons

More competent employees end up working hard while less competent can often get a pass. Performance review system is subpar to non-existent. Result - fair amount of dead wood among rank and file employees. Something of a good old boy's club at upper levels of management that facilitates advancement (not necessarily gender specific) - but less prevalent than I've seen at other places.

I worked at Noble Energy full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Noble has high salaries and decent benefits. They also paid for parking. At Noble you work 9 hour days and half day every Friday. Noble is a great company, but unfortunately my department had arrogant supervisors that treated employees poorly.

    Cons

Some supervisors were borderline verbally abusive. If you are not chosen as their "favorite" you will not be given any opportunity to succeed or lead projects. Noble has extremely inefficient procedures. You need to get ALL your work double/triple checked and approved, often by lower level inexperienced Analysts. They have created a culture of covering your own butt. Very slow processes and some inexperienced individuals make for a huge headache. The supervisors are extreme micro- managers. Many people on the team had poor morale. The CSB building looks and feels like a prison on the inside, no pictures, or art, just white walls and prison guard supervisors. Noble has a lot of talent, few are given encouragement and the opportunity to succeed. Many people keep their head down and fly under the radar and they only stay for the high salary. I wouldn't have stayed as long as I did if it wasn't for the high salary, but in the end my dignity and happiness prevailed. I always had extremely high performance evaluations, which was surprising considering the poor treatment I received from my supervisor. It was a very toxic work environment in my department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Noble hires great talented people that need to be encouraged and mentored. Get rid of bully supervisors!
