    Pros

-Great people -Relaxed work environment -Abbreviated work week (four hour Fridays) -Good benefits -Good pay -Great balance between work and life; the job doesn't consume you like some can and do

    Cons

-"Performance" bonuses are a large part of overall compensation, and you have little control over how the company performs as a whole, especially in times of lower commodity prices -Appalachian business unit is relatively young, so there are not many standard practices in place

    Pros

Good work-life balance, decent 401k match, management is fairly easy to work under, you have the ability to move around, decent culture

    Cons

Uncompetitive pay, overall pretty poor benefits compared to peer companies, huge disconnect between upper /middle management and lower management/supervisors, and a huge disconnect between lower level management/supervisors and regular employees, very disorganized. Questionable people in all sorts of management positions, not easy to move up. This company no longer has the employees best interest in mind

    Advice to Management

    Where should I start...

    Pros

Pay and benefits. Work schedule is nice. Many great folks to work with along with a few really awful ones.

    Cons

Senior managers are not accessible. Lacking competence, ethics and basic leadership. No career path unless you brown nose. It was blatantly obvious who was favored. Don't dare speak up or express any dissatisfaction whatsoever, even if you are a long time, loyal employee. No one cares. If you're not a chosen one, keep your head down and lay low. Do not ever ask for support. If you want to stay, know your place in the food chain. You will have to accept it as it will never change. HR seems to run the company and has a CYA mentality. Be very careful if any conflict should arise. They prefer to demolish you rather than help and do the right and thing. I strongly recommend avoiding HR dept at all costs. I had opportunities in the beginning of my tenure, and I truly am grateful for that. In the end, I was treated like garbage. I felt like the team I worked for shut down and eventually imploded. Sad, sad, sad.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps allow subordinates to rate their leadership. Make changes when necessary, and do it fast! You are losing high quality intelligent employees. Implement defined career paths across the organization. Stop shoving GAP down everyone's throat!!! It's such a waste of money. Take a close look at HR and how they impact the business.

    Pros

    The location. Nice new building

    Cons

Upper management are allowed to run their department poorly and create a hostile environment. Good ole boy, high school click mentally.

    Advice to Management

Hire professionals and wake up before they end in a very bad law situation. Allowing upper management to violate a person rights. Bully should not be allowed.

    Pros

not many pros at all. Can't think of one at this moment.

    Cons

Won't hire contractors until a year of employment. Management does not care to hear the facts about certain higher ups going way over budget on items and then hiding the fact. Just not nice people. But I am sure they caught on recently, that is why they have had to cut back so much lately. Very political and sad atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to people, not just your direct reports.

    Pros

Easy work and not too stressful.

    Cons

Management across the board was the worst I'd ever experienced. They act like they care about their employees but it is a joke. If you want to go back to the high school environment, get a job at Noble. Popularity and kissing up to the manager is the only way you will move up in the company.

    Pros

Company has good leadership at the executive level.

    Cons

Lets the chronic complainers have too much voice in the organization. HR gets into everything and runs the company. HR needs to let the business management handle things and only get involved when asked.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate the "rat (complaint) line". It causes way more headaches than it helps. Its intended purposes was to catch "rats", but it is used for every small issue that comes up.
