Pros
For self-starters, this is a place where you can wear lots of hats, contribute in a collaborative environment, share and interact with global teams, and be innovative. Working for a brand with world-class recognition is a source of pride and opens lots of doors to partners and potential clients.
Cons
This company is slow to move and resists fast innovation and execution. They have really creative and smart people, but they can't get the job done fast enough or with the quality and innovation necessary to compete in the smartphone marketplace. Their new leadership, blended with the old leadership, is disconnected with the consumer -- especially in the U.S. Would have been a better move to develop on the Android platform than MS's. They do not take advantage in a productive way of the immense talent they have in their global teams and have released many thousands who knew how to execute. Too bad, because the Nokia brand (especially in Europe) is still strong and people want the company to succeed. Nokia is no longer a great place to work, sadly.
Advice to Senior Management
Respect your employees more. Listen to them. Honor their contribution and personal sacrifices in the name of your brand.

Good pay. Highly motivated co-workers at my site. Unusually high autonomy at our site, but not most others.

Very heavy bureaucracy when working on Symbian main code line. Slow to respond to needed software and hardware upgrades, though they were getting there before Elop.

Nokia is a Good place to work. It is surrounded by Good community where you can easily find a place to live in. If you find an apartment nearby, Life is peaceful. Also the kind of challenges you face in Nokia are interesting ones. By nature Nokia workmates turn out to be very Supportive.
Overall its a very wonderful experience.

Sometimes Weather gets too hot.
If you are have a crappy manger, your life can easily become hell. Either you end up working late and missing on our life or you will be screwed.

In a lot of cases, you do get work on some cool stuff with very intelligent people. Pay and benefits are good, and the work life balance is very manageable.
Cons
While you can work on some cool stuff, senior management changes direction frequently. With ever changing priorities, it is difficult to get anything meaningful accomplished. The layers of bureaucracy is maddening, it's often difficult to know for sure who is in charge. Management tends to avoid making decisions even when presented with all of the facts up front.
Advice to Senior Management
Elop seems to making the right moves, but so far the changes only evident on the device side. On the Location and Commerce side, it still feels pretty much the same. Management needs to make some decisions, even if they're difficult ones.
