Pros
Global reach, large still somewhat positive brand recognition OUTSIDE of the US.
Cons
Prior to the current CEO, the modus operandi was, "when in doubt, reorganize". There were 6 or 7 major reorganizations within the 5 years I've been at Nokia. Now, they're brining in outside talent who, despite the company laying off literally thousands worldwide, are hiring from outside for jobs that could have been easily handled by internal employees. They are admittedly extremely generous in the current round of layoff packages, but the new leadership team are spotty in terms of expertise relevant to their current executive roles. And they have a global company transfer policy of moving just your stuff with no regard to cost of living increases, return policies, housing and child education support...just moving you and your stuff like a pawn on a chessboard. Great, talented staffers are at times refusing to move for the company these days given the constant (and I mean at least over the last two years and continuing) turmoil and bad company financial results. Morale low too. Think twice about joining, and if there, refurbish your LinkedIn and CV materials and start networking broadly outside.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire execs with prior experience in the role they are slotted into. Keep top talent, not favorites.
Pros
Challenges mean opportunities too.
Good benefit
Nice working environment
Cons
lacking of effective communications top down
Advice to Senior Management
motivate employee to work more cooperatively and efficiently
Pros
The benefits from Nokia are very good compared to most companies. Nokia picks up the majority of the basic costs for healthcare and matches 401k up to 6% total. Due to distance from Finland, when you start work very early local time, you get flexi-time later in the day to take care of personal business.
Cons
Nokia as a whole is contracting back to Finland. All roles and functions outside of Finland are reduced and even inside Finland there have been reductions. If the company is not successful with the new Windows Phones in the US Market during 2012, then expect further reductions in 2013.
Advice to Senior Management
You would have been far better served by having your lower level management use this year of reductions to handpick the people to leave. Instead, you cut wide numbers of people with skills & knowledge that are not easily recreated. 2012 will be a very confusing and very hard year.
Pros
Nice work environment and challenging projects. Competitive packages, good management.
Flexible work hours, and good team work. Kind of family feeling...
Cons
After some years of successful work, no raise or significant change in salary. Can be explained of recent bad situation of corporation.

Pros
Very good culture. People here are friendly, and they support each other very well.
Cons
Uncertain of the company's future.
Pros
high benefits, being respected and great working environment.
Cons
the company is in a bad shape

Pros
Great work life balance. Pay is ok but total compensation is not great. You can learn of lot of things that you should not do at other places
Cons
No career growth in US. Also Manager is not very supportive of personal growth. Even SVPs do not have a clue of strategy.
Nokia tries to balance with total compensation and with the current company results the bonus payout is pitiful.
Advice to Senior Management
focus on strategy. 2012 will be make or break for the company
Pros
- Felxible hours, you can organize your working time and time off
- Somehow competitive salary
- In the heart of the technology fight
- Truly global player
Cons
Nokia is a hardware company that comes from market domination during the ´90 and beginning of 2000 and is now set to a low market segment, where hardware plays a very secondary role. Elop set a new strategy, but:
- Thr machine is extremely slow to react
- Senior managers are unable to lead anywhere
- Political wars are the everyday standard, especially in Location and Commerce Unit
- Forget about career, the senior management does not leave any free space for people below
- Any decision takes ages to be implemented and will be reviewed constatly (there are projects with no product release at all after 3 years, but still existing!!)
Advice to Senior Management
Give up your dominance plan, Elop has a good plan, the company has to do just hardware and give up any complex software development, there is no mentality for it.
Pros
Company in a very fast moving/changing industry. Senior management understands this well and reacts to it well. Company is definitely on the way up!
Cons
Industry moves too fast. Unfortunately not every employee reacts well that. Some still live in the old glory days. Some great staff left to join competitors leaving the old guards. Also, way too much re-orgs!
Advice to Senior Management
We don't need re-organisations every other quarters.
Pros
New Devices, New Technology and Global company
Cons
Re-Org all the time, No accountability of Senior Management :(
