I worked at Nokia Networks full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Technically competent but lacking in customer management skills.

    Cons

Poor customer service, Inability to deliver on roadmap commitments on both dates and content. Bug fixes always late.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what you say. You paid nearly a billion for Motorola Networks and then lay off half the staff because Euro commissions will not let NSN lay off bloated payrolls/duplication.

NSN is a big, bureaucratic and very european centric company that wants to be agile but can't seem to get moving

I have been working at Nokia Networks

    Pros

lots of technical talent, lots of resources to draw on, good benefits (in US), a nice place to work

    Cons

You can easily get frustrated by the bureaucracy, internal politics, and ever present european overseers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to succeed in the US let the folks in the US employees lead the effort. Send the Finnish minders (babysitters) home. Be more nimble, use smaller entrepreneurial design teams instead of monolithic and fat central engineering (and too eurocentic) engineering centers, keep hardware and software development inhouse, outsource more manufacturing.
