    Pros

Free phones was about the only pro I could think of.

    Cons

They shut down our office and laid us off because they didn't want us to leave. The benefits were ok, I didn't like I had to pay a premium for my wife to be on the health insurance plan.

I worked at Nokia full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Global reach - you can have assignments around the world
Compensation is competitive - bonus system (dependent on profitability) can be a nice perk

    Cons

Lack of direction and accountability has been the culprit of Nokia - it is key for the "New Nokia" (w/o handset business) to fix these issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn from the past and manage risks properly - the company cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes it made while running the handset business

    Pros

The department managers are true professionals and committed to their goals and team members.

    Cons

Find a way to have cohesive and unified approach at all US locations, a method to ensure all of Nokia US is structured to have the SAME goals and paths to get there; using an in-synch methodology.

I have been working at Nokia as a contractor for more than 10 years

    Pros

Experienced team members are collaborative and high energy. New ideas from anyone in the team are considered. You can easily join a project that holds your interest.

    Cons

Concerns that the positive attributes of the Nokia culture will be lost in such a large corporation as Microsoft. Nokia teams are used to working remotely and globally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend extra time rebuilding the new blended teams. Consider that a team is now a combination of two diverse companies and many contractors.
