I worked at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than a year
Pros – Technically competent but lacking in customer management skills.
Cons – Poor customer service, Inability to deliver on roadmap commitments on both dates and content. Bug fixes always late.
Advice to Senior Management – Do what you say. You paid nearly a billion for Motorola Networks and then lay off half the staff because Euro commissions will not let NSN lay off bloated payrolls/duplication.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – - 6% company match for 401k
- flexible work time
Cons – - It's very difficult to get any promotions. Company is interested in the cheapest engineers.
- Your salary is based on your nationality not on the competence. Finnish engineers have the highest salaries. On the same position engineer from LAM would get 60 000 - 70 000 $ per year. But Finnish engineer would get 90 000 - 100 000 $.
- Most managers don't respect you at all. You wouldn't get any compensation for the overtime or night work.
Advice to Senior Management – respect your engineers. Salary should be based on the competence not on the nationality.

I have been working at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great people, Good benefits, Challenging work
Cons – Do more with less is new company mantra
Good benefits but eroding, e.g. 8% 401K matching now 6%
Introducing culture of "Discipline, Accountability, and Profit"
Certain percentage MUST be rated "needs improvement" each year, this cuts bonus in half
Advice to Senior Management – Make sure announced changes in corporate governance are actually implemented, or it just becomes words.

I worked at Nokia Siemens Networks full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Once a decision has been made, everyone moves forward. Errors are there to learn from
Builds on strengths, be able to measure performance
Values personnel growth
Cons – Decision making not always aligned with required project timeframes...
Rules applied non-uniformly across teams and personnel
Entrench to core strengths stabilizes business but timing was late
Advice to Senior Management – Mergers can provide great synergy but very difficult to manage if cultural preferences are not overcome quickly.
Often felt that it took too long for the company to make necessary decisions in hopes of preserving in-country jobs.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Pros – Easy job and have the chance to learn.
Cons – Very bad management and bad HR. Fire the entire corrupt and utterly useless HR, and get some talented people on board.
Advice to Senior Management – Change ASAP, otherwise loss more and more customers, next Nortel soon.
