    Pros

Nordstrom work with your school schedule. If you are willing to move up with the company it isn't hard. Just show interest and work hard they will notice the hard work. They match you on your 401k great stock opportunity and plenty of options in which direction you would like to move with the company.

    Cons

depending on if the store carries high volume depend on if you are going to have to work really hard or have a easy work load.

    Pros

Work at the rack is fast paced. There is never a dull day. If you desire to move up in the company you can. Nordstrom believes strongly in hiring from within.

    Cons

Working at the rack is hard. Customers expect the Nordstrom experience at a discount and thus are very demanding. Also unless you are management don't expect full time or a consistent schedule.

    Advice to Management

Rack employees should have an easier time getting hired at full line.

    Pros

The starting pay was nice being my first job
As a whole working at the rack was enjoyable, and they were fairly flexible when it came to working with school schedules and time off. Benifits are nice with employee discounts and 401K which they'll match you at.

    Cons

They most annoying thing about working for nordstrom is the amount of pressure that they put on you for open credit cards (rewards). It's absolutely ridiculous, every 5 minutes they ask of you have any yet, even if you have managed to they push for you to open more and scold you if you don't. They automatically expect you to ask EVERY SINGLE PERSON that walks through the store if they want to open a rewards card. Plus on top of that some of the drama that floats around the store is comparable to stuff you hear about in high school.

    Advice to Management

Come out of your little bat cave and do some work. Instead of hiding away for hours at a time. Don't get so worked up about how some employees don't open them. Not every person in the world wants a nordstrom credit card.

    Pros

Fast promotion, fast paced, fun, morning rallies, build your own team

    Cons

Few hours for team, unit sales is a big deal in the rack stores , not actual volume numbers.

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack part-time

    Pros

The managers are great and they do all of the promoting from within so if you want to start a career in the retail fashion game this is the place for you

    Cons

Its still retail so expect to work nights and weekends. You do markdowns and inventory so expect to come in on some late nights. They do try to please everyone's schedules so sometimes you can get screwed for having the most flexible schedule

    Advice to Management

Reward your top sales associates more with better hours, and re-establish the specialist positions for all the departments.

    Pros

Great team work, no commission stress, great pay for a simple sales position, part time benefits available

    Cons

Health insurance for part time is available but min 130 hrs a month necessary worked, which isn't really in your control.

    Advice to Management

A lot of managers are very young, alot younger than some sales associates. They need to learn to assert themselves without being demeaning or looking foolish.
