I have been working at Nordstrom Rack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    pretty easy going.

    Cons

Just remember working at the Rack means customers are going to make a mess of your displays you spend hours on cleaning, organizing, and putting together everyday. Scheduled hours flip and flop a lot, from closing to opening the store the next day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why are we selling tons of size F and E bras for example Why is merchandise so crammed together that it is easy for customers to make a total mess of the departments. This is a reason I avoided shopping there before I started working at Nordstrom.

    Pros

The benefits for part time and full time. Schedules can be flexible.

    Cons

Numbers do matter have to opening accounts, to mobile transactions, e-receipts, sensor audits, gift card sales. Sometimes too many number to to keep straight. If you excel in one area, you have to sacrifice an area.

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Opportunity to advance if you prove yourself. Most recognized and respected high end Retailer. Respectable employee discounts and a sense of pride to be part of the success of the store.

    Cons

Very high energy and stress to produce. No slackers will stay, they only want the cream. Good training and coaching but you better bring your "A" game for sure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Nordstrom Rack full-time for less than a year

    Pros

While working with Nordstrom Rack, I learned a lot about their products: Free People, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Alexis Bittar, Tory Burch, etc.. This is a face paced enviornment, which I love. They offered cash payouts when you open credit card or debit accounts.

    Cons

Dozens of new Racks stores are opening over the next 4 years. They are selling "the dream," offering people speedy promotions & the ability to relocate. It's very hard to be promoted to one of these positions, the employees from their full line store are chosen 1st. Although you're paid in cash when selling cards, you are taxed at extremely high rates on your next pay check. YOU WILL EARN A SMALL WAGE WHILE THEY INFORM YOU OF THE STORES TENS OF THOUSAND DOLLAR EARNINGS EACH DAY!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't sell unrealistic dreams to individuals who make barely above minimum wage. Management needs to spend more time training their employees and spend less time pressuring and or threatening their jobs when they don't sell credit & debit cards. Also if you are going to pay employees so little, the least you could do is offer more than 20% discount on merchandise.

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack full-time

    Pros

Biggest pro would be the benefits offered to full time and part time employees. Decent retail pay, paid time off, and department managers are approachable.

    Cons

upper management is distant/hardly interacts with employees in the store. Raising concerns to management is a BIG MISTAKE if you value your job. Don't raise concerns, as you will not be allowed to explain or defend yourself. You will most likely be given an "opportunity check" or a write up which will stop you from ever saying anything if you value your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to employees/investigate allegations and allow people to defend themselves
