    I worked at Nordstrom Rack

    Pros

I would say the best reasons is the fun talking with coworkers and accomplishing goals as a team.Wish I could have stayed longer than just holiday season! Discount is awesome :)

    Cons

Lots of things to do and not enough training/direction to know how to do it. Have to ask lots of questions to lots of coworkers and supervisors and they get annoyed to help at times.

    Pros

Great company to work for! Everyone there is a team player. Good hours and they are flexible with your schedule.

    Cons

They expect a lot, like big numbers on a small day, but they are still great with motivating the team to get there. They also don't acknowledge hard work.

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack

    Pros

The training is decent, the benefits are amazing, as for pay in retail this job really blows most out of the water. Especially in the Customer Experience position. The base pay is decent but the incentive pay is whatever you make it. Sky is the limit.

    Cons

There really is not too much bad to say about this company. They do not really have any cons when it comes to the job except you really do work in a fast paced environment and it is not for the faint of heart.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More flexibility. Just be ready for situations with people who need different schedules that can make you successful. Keep the culture exactly as it is.

    Pros

Awesome training, great opportunity to move up, pay started at $12.25 with no prior experience, 20% discount, and fun environment

    Cons

Employees can be stuck up, managers may think they are better than you...typical for retail job with young workers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack

    Pros

Seems like good company with benefits at all levels. Pay scale is minimal but better than a lot of other retailers or flipping burgers. Upbeat company culture. On your feet and fast paced.

    Cons

Starting at the bottom in a new career is not that fun. On your feet all day. Make sure you have really good shoes. Closing and then opening the next morning is kinda rough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with associates to maximize coverage by working with schedules. Tell associates what you want. Let them tell you their availability to fill those schedule times.

I worked at Nordstrom Rack part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Was a fun place to work and I got plenty of training. My coworkers all had great personalities. I enjoyed working with beautiful merchandise and pleasant customers.

    Cons

They over-hired for the holidays, cut back on our hours even after we received our schedule, and let most of us go early. I was told this all came down from corporate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire less people and give them more hours to keep morale up. I heard a lot of conversations from regular employees that were unhappy with their own hour cuts due to too many seasonal new hires. I don't think it's worth it for continued overall productivity long term. If you release the schedule, have the integrity to let the people work their hours.

I worked at Nordstrom Rack part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Schedules post several weeks in advance, all shifts 8 hours, so you get very close to 40 hour work weeks, lax work attire, fun coworker experience.

    Cons

Not very flexible to last minute emergencies, difficult to be promoted into permanent departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More manager to staff communication

I worked at Nordstrom Rack part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great starting pay and great for students.

    Cons

You're expected to not only take care of your department and also ring up customers on the floor while trying to maintain it. That leaves no time to interact with customers better and keep the department in an orderly manner. Some departments are busier than others and it sucks to be asked to ring for them when you are doing all you can and everyone else on the floor. Hours fluctuate like all get out. It's tough

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better LEADERS. Get rid of mobile checkout are at least have actually cashiers doing it instead. Yes it gets people in and out quickly but it leaves the floor unattended to as your employees are always trying to catch up. Too much pressure on opening up accounts. Stop being so catty.
