    Pros

Advancement is fairly simple if you really want it. It helps to network and execute plans right away. The work environment is great.

    Cons

The pay seems ok. But competitors offer more money for the same position. Kind of sucks seeing as how JWN beats it's competition in sales.

    Advice to Management

    Pretty straight forward.

I worked at Nordstrom Rack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nordstrom is a great company to work for, but it varies region to region. Racks are starting to "churn and burn" which means more work for less pay. If you have a great department manager and store manager, the opportunities are endless. If you have a bad one, the opportunities not only stop, but you might as well get a new job. One person can ruin your career in the same way that one person can be an incredible mentor.

    Cons

No set schedule, the flow of the store depends heavily on whether you have a good store manager or not, NO WORK/LIFE BALANCE

    Advice to Management

Treat people how you want to be treated. Be consistent. Care about the overall well being of your team, instead of just riding them to no end.

I have been working at Nordstrom Rack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When you have supportive manager it is easy to be promoted in the company. The discount is nice especially with the 40%off sales. Paid bereavement, court duty and vacation time

    Cons

If you dont have a good relationship with management they will hinder any opportunities present for promotion. They do not appreciate your hardwork and schedule hour short of receiving health benefits. Also the management micro manages their departments

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees because they help build your company and our brand ambassadors.

    Pros

Good pay. Opportunity for growth from within. Very nice upper management and HR.

    Cons

Bad department manager. Very early and very late shifts. Hard to get time off.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to check in with employees about department managers. If someone would have asked me, I would have told them how things were going. I wasn't the only one feeling that way.
