I worked at Norman Regional Hospital Authority full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I liked being exposed to the medical world while still doing financial stuff. One of the things I was responsible for was collecting statistical information on admissions, procedures, etc. I learned a lot of medical terminology that I wouldn't have otherwise been exposed to.

    Cons

Didn't really like coming to a place everyday where there were sick people in the same building but I never got sick. They really push hand washing and have the hand sanitizer stations everywhere so I'm sure that helps.

Your life at this hospital depends on the floor you work. PCU is the best. Some of the staff are nasty and mean

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Norman Regional Hospital Authority full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The strongest asset NRHS has is it's staff and the cohesion of the community they create. It is not a huge conglomerate system so that each employee is still a bit more than a number on the payroll. When approval is needed to put a new idea into play, it isn't months before it can be presented to corporate in another state who know nothing of the local needs.

    Cons

Top heavy in upper management, yet budget shortfalls are expected to be met by triming the lowest paid hourly workers, of which there are already too few, and doubling responsibilities of those left who are already stretched far too thin. Within the last few months, all but two unit managers have turned over, and those responsibilites are being left dangling or shoved to the remaining survivors who are unable to maintain control of all their responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look in the mirror at who's fat needs to be trimmed.

I have been working at Norman Regional Hospital Authority

    Pros

The department work is organized and everyone has their work responsibilities.
    The cafeteria has good food.
The gift shop has all sorts of nice last minute gifts.

    Cons

The pay is not the best.
Education is the only way for advancement.
There isn't pressure applied to those who do not complete their assigned tasks before their shift ends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The director sends out weekly emails about what him and his staff are up to. He shares positive perceptions by patients.
