Pros
great opportunities for advancement at all levels
Cons
Sr. Management mismanaged funds - criminal behavior really unfortunate that it was a great company that became extinct
Advice to Senior Management
More whistleblower ability at the employee levels
Pros
Great group of people to work with, knowledgeable and hard-working for the most part.
Holidays and vacation packages were quite competitive.
Cons
Constant anticipation over the last 5 years of being laid-off due to down-sizing.
Several incompetent and/or self-serving CEOs.
Advice to Senior Management
Recommendation is to read the book "From Good to Great"
Pros
opportunities to be creative and innovative.
Cons
Poor executive management, lack of foresight and planning.
Pros
Good benefits and good pay
Cons
Negative environment once the company started going under
Advice to Senior Management
?
Pros
Salary Level was okay
Worklife Balance was good
Global Reach and Multicultural nature of the interactions made it interesting.
Work was stimulating
Cons
That is went into administration. A great shame but went the same way as Kodak and Polaroid - did not adapt to the market. A strong over reliance on a few customers meant when the tide went out, they were exposed.
Advice to Senior Management
Not relevant now as they have been dispersed to the four winds. Employ the senior people with some caution really as they did not make enough changes.
Pros
Paid well, but company liquidating.
Cons
Nortel is liquidating so it really does not matter.
Advice to Senior Management
NA
Pros
Management leave you along for the most part as long as you are delivering to the customer.
Cons
Some of the products did not meet the customer's expectations in term of services or technology. It tough to compete with less features as other vendors
Advice to Senior Management
Management need to ensure better features are in the products. Management need to develope employees and worry less about cost.
Pros
Great products. Great work life balance. Work was definitely challenging. Benefits were decent. Coworkers were great. Attractive office and work environment. Good location.
Cons
Company was terribly mismanaged. In my opinion, too much was outsourced with ridiculous contracts made with contract manufacturers. (Some of which I understand was necessary). Corrupt & self serving top brass.
Pros
High technology products and services helping people communicate in all regions of the world. Constantly challenging environment with support from management to grow the business.
Cons
Performance reviews were an "event" some years with some managers but well worthwhile with managers who took objective setting and management to those targets seriously.
Advice to Senior Management
Manage cash better - led to bankruptcy protection status. Significant effort and committment seen even once bankruptcy protections status was in place.
Pros
This was a wonderful place to work before things went downhill. Great benefits, great people, lots of opportunities. Thank you John Roth for ruining it.
Cons
Company went bankrupt... what else is there to say. It is a shame that this canadian icon is no longer with us.
Advice to Senior Management
generally accepted accounting principles... otherwise known as gaap. grow a little slower next time. hopefully we don't run into this sort of problem again.
