Excellent compensation and benefits with bonus structure for retaining employees. Opportunities abound with so few people left to do all the work that needs to be done.

The company is downsizing having been in bankruptcy protection for the past 18 months. Your job is limited in time by the eventual closure of the company.

Pros
Plenty of support is available. The environment is very relaxed. The only stress would be the anticipation of getting laid off. The Carling Campus was very pretty
Cons
I did not find a lot of opportunities for growth. The career advancement is very limited. The laid back environment could make you lazy as well
Advice to Senior Management
The management should seriously focus on improving the culture. The culture of being proactive and innovation needs to be brought back
Pros
Great individuals to work with. Lots of telecom history and industry veterans who still work there under the Ericsson banner. I wish them well.
Cons
Lots of good talent held back by lack of accountability in project execution, and multiple layers of incompetent middle management. Horrible executive team.
Advice to Senior Management
None- the corporation is dead, and management deceived its employees all the way until the bankruptcy began. RIP Nortel.
Pros
salary
flexible hours and telecommuting
benefits
training
attention paid to ensuring employees had good soft skills and treated each other with respect
Cons
management propaganda instead of realistic internal communications
stifling innovation environment in the last 10 years; very technologically conservative
Advice to Senior Management
the board should have paid closer attention to what senior management was doing
the board had no vision of what the company was supposed to be
Pros
Complete lack of accountability (if that is what you are looking for), Lack of vision & strategy allows you to pretty much do whatever you want - regardless of how it might impact the business (call it creative license), Out of touch with customers - so anyone can claim to know what the customer wants, You get to be around gifted people - whose gifts go completely to waste
Cons
Working on project after project that gets canned, No opportunities for promotion, the rare person who is promoted leaves you scratching your head as to what possible attributes account for said promotion, belief that great technology will lead to a great business
Advice to Senior Management
Collect members of janitorial staff, assign them your jobs.
