Pros – Good health benefits. Good work-life balance as top management is committed to having a good work-life balance for themselves. Corporate office buildings are a ghost town by 5PM Monday to Thursday and earlier on Friday or holidays.
Cons – Management is not adaptable and flexible regarding workforce planning. Workers not encouraged to grow professionally and be upwardly mobile.
They are required to fill certain routine functions and roles and get blocked if they try to climb out of those repetitive functions/roles.
Too much favoritism and cronyism.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more committed to professional development of staff.
Be more creative and flexible on workforce planning rather than so much concern on having workers in place performing routine functions.

Pros – A lot of people in other departments are friendly. The benefits are decent.
Cons – Micromanaging control freak who dominated my every move.
Co-workers that were able to get away with screaming loud laughter and nonstop talking never punished.
Incorrect information on benefits, HR given at every turn.
Advice to Senior Management – Act like real managers - listen to your staff.
Prevent micromanaging jerks like the Medical Director of CHS from ruining excellent staff who only wanted to please.

Pros – The location is convenient in a beautiful city.
The people that work there care about the Mission which is care for the community.
There are employees there who have worked there for many years, so the intellectual capital is amazing.
The reputation of all services in the community (trauma center, Level 1 NICU, etc.
Cons – Sometimes the large size can cause challenges
Recent senior leader changes have caused the usual and expected transition bumps in the road
Being partially tax assisted has it's polical down sides, although it's good to be re-imbursed for indigent care
Advice to Senior Management – communicate more during times of transion
continue to value learning and development, even during financial cut backs

Pros – Excellent benefits and pay is competitive. The work environment is employee friendly and numerous educational and career enhancing opportunities are available. Long term job stability and one of the few places that still offer a pension plan.
Cons – As a public system they are not as quick to implement new technology but this has been changing for the better. The biggest problem in the district from a practitioners standpoint is supply contracts and sub-par service from pharmaceutical distributors. Contracts need to go to the best suppliers and not someones buddy or always the cheapest.
Advice to Senior Management – As with any large organization, Management would do well to provide better and more timely communication. Overall, the organization is run well at the front line but the corporate side needs to be reminded that healthcare is provided by the professionals and not the bean counters.
