    Pros

Patient care comes first. Comradery, everyone works together towards one goal and acts like they are on a team.

    Cons

Health benefits are crummy. Low end salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to your employees when making big decisions

I have been working at North Kansas City Hospital full-time

    Pros

There is no shortage of work due to the changing Medicare regulations affecting healthcare outcomes and reimbursement.

    Cons

Few career opportunities for non-clinical positions unless you are in information technology. Leadership values are not necessarily passed down through the ranks. Must use Paid Time Off to attend training directly related to your position. Previous employer provided in-house and outside training without requiring one to use their personal time or vacation time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Include employees in decision that affect their positions and change management style from the parent/child type relationships, provide hourly employees with the benefits similar to management.

I worked at North Kansas City Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice physical place to work. Building is being updated but is far behind other area hospitals in decor. Food is fairly good compared to most hospitals. Traditional retirement program.

    Cons

Disrespect abounds. If you are a nurse expect to put your license on the line. You are urged to violate nursing standards and hospital policy. If you have an integrity stay clear. You will not be promoted for experience or expertise. You will however be promoted if you party with the "right people" If you are a normal working person that cares about patient care, and your family don't bother. Pay and benefits falling below competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward integrity, promote excellence, actually care about patients and healthcare more than medicare reimbursement or pandering to staff physicians.

I worked at North Kansas City Hospital part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There are some great people and overall the company is supportive of employees. It's been around a long time and isn't going anywhere. People in the community think highly of the hospital and many employees seem happy and proud.

    Cons

Top people make all the decisions. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Lots of favoritism in some areas. Certain departments are dead ends and others get lots of attention. Employees that are rude, incompetent and have bad attitudes don't get fired, they just get more power.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to input and recognize that employees at all levels can contribute. Don't be afraid to get rid of the bad apples.

    Pros

    Cons

Benefits could be better. Cut back on PTO but still better than nothing. Hard for lazy people to get fired.
