I have been working at North Memorial Health Care part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The pay is alright and the new Pharmacy Director is making a lot of improvements. Excited about the renovation.

    Cons

    Union

Pharmacy specific....training, seniority (the seniors complain too much), they can't accommodate your schedule because the seniors goes to the union about everything, frequent change in management, high turn over rate, I was promised 1 evening per pay period and the rest days when I was offered the position and hired....but that fell through after my 90 days, inconsistent schedule, and the schedule is always coming out late.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with your team, have better leadership, and offer better training.

I worked at North Memorial Health Care full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Patient interaction, not always micro-managing, new campus in Maple Grove is exceptional (but also a partnership, not just Maple Grove).

    Cons

Supervisory staff is lackluster, the benefits have been slashed immensely over the years, the corporate culture is soul-less, the focus is on saving as much money as possible to the detriment of both patient and employee, the morale is horrible, and the food service is probably just one level above what they get in prison from the same food management company.

I worked at North Memorial Health Care full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The people were great. Benefits were pretty good.

    Cons

My manager was horrible and never took time to get to know me or develop me. She never worked with anybody but spent her time in her office with paperwork. Management very very hands off and never took time to get to know the people that worked in the department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start developing your managers.

    Pros

Early on North was a great place to work. They allowed you the autonomy to excel!

    Cons

Controlling, management is too competitive to produce any flow. Problems never get resolved as they are too paranoid to share info between departments, there for nothing ever gets resolved. The employee then gets blamed for not getting things done as you wait for answers from up high that never come.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management, please allow employees to resolve issues quickly and jobs that were flex hours should go back to flex hours. Also, fire the control freak managers and get people who understand business. Knowing about health care is great, but they do not know how to manage or grow a business.

I worked at North Memorial Health Care full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee health center, imagine a clinic, you don't pay co-pays at for employees.
The fitness center, they have one, it's a pretty good deal.

    Cons

They removed the employee reimbursement program for non-union staff while I worked there. While working there it was hard to see people owning issues and working together to get things fixed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand you customers, the patients, their families, your guests. Give them what they want.

I have been working at North Memorial Health Care

    Pros

They allow you to expand your experience by cross training. There is variety and people I work day to day with are GREAT! It one of the reasons I stay.

    Cons

Not enough resources (people and money) to get projects completed. It's good to have a job but burn out rate is high!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the credit to those that deserve it and show them that you appreciate them. A good word goes a long way!

I have been working at North Memorial Health Care

    Pros

Smaller environment with good opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Organizational communications and priorities either don’t make it down to the individual level or leadership isn’t promoting the plans and goals for the company effectively.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strongly encourage Nursing and Medical Staff leadership to bring their colleagues in line with the goals for the organization. It seems like there are many staff only worried about their own concerns instead of working towards organizational goals.
