I have been working at North-West College full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong sense of commitment to students. Room for progressive advancement. Transforming the campuses to modern facilities. Culture of family if cultivated.

    Cons

Lots of growing pains. Benefits are poor and not offered to all employees. Pay is low. Departments are sometimes pitted against each other. Reminescint of high school at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Intrinsic needs cannot be discovered and met until an employees extrinsic needs ( food and rent) have been met. Investing in the employees will ensure happy customers (students).

I worked at North-West College part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Loved working with students, my campus staff and launching careers.

    Cons

They only offer part-time non benefited positions. 36 or 38 hours only so employees wont get benefits. pay is ok. nothing crazy.

Admissions reps have a quota of enrolling 3 students per week. If you dont enroll 3, you have to be on a "opportunity" conference call where the Director of Admissions tells you how bad you did and how you can do better.

The turnover rate for admissions here is high, they usually hire admissions reps every couple of months.

Director of Admissions was extremely demeaning, condescending, and does not take the time one on one to actually train staff.

Each program for students is no less than $13,000, with the most being $40,000. They should really take care of their employees financially.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great company, but make sure dollar signs dont take over your focus. The focus is students futures.

I worked at North-West College full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good programs for students. That's about it.

    Cons

They do not value employees at ALL. Everyone must work 39 hrs a week -maximum in order to ensure that Mitchell doesn't have to pay you as a "valued" employee any holidays, nor provide you with sick or vacation hours, or health benefits/insurance for that matter!! It seems as though they prey on first time employees (and by first time I mean first real "corporate" job, dare I call it that) who are new to the industry of proprietary schooling. Worst company ever. Avoid if you can unless it is transient or intermittent for you. PS, no one there is educated. Who would've thought?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so cheap and focusing on where you can pinch pennies at the cost of your employees to fatten your own wallet Mitchell! And everyone knows your reputation for sleeping with staff.

I have been working at North-West College

    Pros

I usually am able to get time off when needed, so long as I request in a reasonable time frame and allow enough notice.

    Cons

They do not hire anyone full-time. You work 38 hours with no benefits. This is how they get away with paying people roughly full-time pay with no benefits. Management has unrealistic expectations for retention, admissions, placement, etc. They do not give employees the resources to help them succeed. It is so easy to get in the school that low quality students are enrolled everyday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually listen to your employees. Quit doing the minimum to keep them happy. It's funny how this economy is a mess right now and you are taking total control of that.
