I worked at Northwest Missouri State University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Everyone at Northwest tries to make you feel like a part of a great community. You really do feel like you are making a difference! A lot of time off with university holidays and vacation. Very supportive town.

    Cons

The windy winters are a little rough :) There is not a lot to do in the town.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep caring about students!!

I have been working at Northwest Missouri State University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The Northwest campus is very beautiful with peaceful atmosphere. The work culture is nice and everything has order to itself. It provides a chance to us to work beyond expectations.

    Cons

work-life balance is not that bad. Overtime is not common. Some jobs would require training after you join the job.

I have been working at Northwest Missouri State University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - They work with class schedules (it's again university police to skip class in order to work)
    - my position is 24/7 so I work various shifts and often get full time
    - It is a good opportunity for students because faculty make great references.

    Cons

    - occasionally have to work football games (I am a HUGE football fan, Go Bearcats!)
    - maximum 20 hours a week
    - only get paid once a month

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more with students over sensitive issues.

I have been working at Northwest Missouri State University as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    - family environment, very friendly supervisors who actually care about your personal life
    - great work/ life balance
    -flexible schedule

    Cons

    - higher-ed politics
    - some view the students as a hassle rather than the reason that they are truly here (although others try to make up for these individuals)
    - not the best compensation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - do not simply settle into what is easier and what has been done in the past, encourage innovation and creative solutions to problems more often

I worked at Northwest Missouri State University part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very friendly employer. I remember her name Sarah. Nice work place. Good infrastructure.

    Cons

Work place is so good, but number of opportunities in remaining part of university are very limited. I got oncampus job in 3rd semester. As far as Nwmissourian is considered I am pretty much satisfied, but job opportunities in remaining parts of university are not that good

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please provide more jobs to students in university. Expand yourselves to more technology.

I worked at Northwest Missouri State University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The people were very outgoing and humorous in a candid way and it was just a really good work environment with lots of camaraderie. Lots of independence at the job of ticket writer. Lots of room for high performance. The management is very good as well.

    Cons

I can't think of too many disadvantages. This is not a disadvantage at all, but more of if its a good fit for someone. They love to joke around, but its a frank sort of humor. So I wouldn't recommend being too thin-skinned because its just their style and they do it because they like you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Upper management is doing great.

I have been working at Northwest Missouri State University

    Pros

Great office. Great services. I very much enjoyed working here for 3 years and it is a great place to work that will develop several transferrable skills.

    Cons

With college's they do not always understand school work comes first even though that's why we're at working in the office to begin with.
