Exceptional organization driven to succeed in a competitive environment.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital

ProsSmart people, great leadership, solid success, great growth opportunities. Forward thinking. Exceptional investments in their people and staff.

ConsThere are truly none that I can think of except that as a results driven hospital, those who do not perform, will not get promoted which is not a con but a plus if you are talented.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital part-time for more than a year

ProsFlexible schedules, Paid-time-off, Offer jobs within the hospital.

ConsA lot of part time positions, so if youre looking for strictly full-time it may be a bit of a challenge. If you have a vehicle you will either have to pay for employee parking or pay to park somewhere else.

The Pack Animals...

Patient Care Technician (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital full-time for less than a year

ProsFast hiring because their so desparate...

ConsWell, they ride their employees like pack animals. If your on a break, nursing staff will not hesitate to come and ask for you to end your break early and offer all the guilt they can when you say no to them. And they are super anal when it comes to the patient privacy thing--an EKG trainer was reviewing a case with us in the hallway and one of their bureaucrats walked by and chewed out the trainer for possible patient privacy violations. So the people who are honestly paid to just think up new rules are firmly in control to justify their own continued jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe orientation for new patients regarding their rights should be reduced to just two:
1. You have the right to take your pills, and...
2. Shut Up and wait for your ice water.

Good place to work. People are ok depending what department you work in.

Environmental Service (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGrowth opportunity. Pay good at least a few years ago. Things have changed a lot with pay and benefits and pension plan.

ConsBenefits have changed and pay if you are trying to get in now. Place has changed a lot.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote from within. acknowledge employees more. Give reviews on time. Don't put so much stress on workers.

Great opportunities. Very political "corporate culture" focused within management.

Resource Coordinator (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital full-time for more than 8 years

ProsLarge, world-renowned. Quality physician staff. Beaufiful, modern facility.

ConsMulti-layered management. Meetings about meetings about meetings. Many policies, programs, initiatives are 'talked about' - even "rolled out" - but, are poorly executed, poorly received, or quickly "changed" - usually by 'new' management regime. Often attempting to re-create the wheel - time and time again.
