I worked at Northwestern University full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

experience was great. great campus selection, and interviews, helps the students and postdocs to find a lot of opportunities.

    Cons

campus shuttle services are not that frequent, and should extend their circle a little further more from just the closest areas.

I worked at Northwestern University full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance, very fair time off, and very considerate of time off. Also flexible working hours, and fair leadership. Depends on the department you work in though- some departments are very difficult to work with (fundraising), but overall fair cross-functional relationships and interactions. Good benefits as well. Lots of time off, and

    Cons

Outrageous parking cost, not very good career development, unable to work from home at all (could have used this on the snow days, or been fair giving this (IE all of the managers can work from home, but not staff???)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More fairness, better HR relationships (poor follow-up and guidance through time during there, and when I left), compensation increases, more career delveopment, cheaper parking!!!

I have been working at Northwestern University full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Family-friendly benefits, many opportunities to take classes to continuing professional development/learning, several internal employee networks as well

    Cons

decentralized way of doing things so each school/department has a unique work-life balance and work culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

great benefits, benefits are very family-friendly rather than catering to those with no children

I worked at Northwestern University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed environment, beautiful campus, flexible hours. Some pockets of the university are wonderful and offer interesting work and true work/life balance,

    Cons

Experience can vary greatly depending on which School or Department you work in. Certain areas of the university have stodgy, inflexible management and require a lot of overtime. Also, the committees can get out of hand and make processes and decision-making unbearably painful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring the best NU has to offer to all areas of the organization.

    Pros

Flexibility, job growth, fast-paced, interesting. I had a really great experience working for Northwestern. I worked in the sciences and it can be a fast-paced environment. There are always new challenges and I was never bored. Once hired, there are lots of ways to move between departments and further your career.

    Cons
