I have been working at Novariant full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedules prove they put their money where their mouth is when it comes to work-life balance. Everybody needs to eat: they make GPS steering hardware and software for the agricultural business. World wise company: they are expanding into European, Asian and Central-South American markets with low cost solutions for every size of farming business.

    Cons

Transitioning from dealer sales model to OEM/VAR structure = no opportunities for people in sales. Transitioning from hardware heavy to software and service model = less opportunities for hardware engineers.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep up with advances in technology and get ahead of the curve with sensors and autonomous steering and navigation systems!

There is a few good employees left. Feel sorry for them having to deal with a crazy management team.

    Cons

Management team perform illegal activity in company. Crazy HR yelling at employees for taking an extra 5 minutes lunch.

    Advice to Management

Get out before they get caught.

    Pros

Engineering department is small but they have really good communication. Autonomy in the Engineering Design

    Cons

Processes are out of date, need refreshing.

    Advice to Management

Upper management was really good, then they had some upper management changes and lost motivation of employees.

I worked at Novariant full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

IT, Finance and Operations were very helpful in providing information or fixing the computer system so that customers could use the product.

    Cons

Too many failures caused daily return authorization to bring back products for repair

    Advice to Management

New management kicked out many employees to bring in their people. You need to scrap the current ERP system for one that has flexibility. If your product continues to fail, you are going to have major problems.

    Pros

Lots of smart people Fairly small close knit place Very real target market Very cool technology

    Cons

Too many years "Starting Up" Need to forget about being bought out and worry about competing with heavyweights Need to start driving innovation from bottom up sometimes Put individuals goals aside and look at profitable markets.

    Advice to Management

Start working on derivative software offerings in farming domain, there is lower startup cost for small company

  9. Company growth and direction has stalled.

    Pros

As an engineer, it is a great place to work if you want to learn everything about GPS technology and vehicle control systems.

    Cons

Being a small company it offers a very limited career path. It is very difficult to introduce new ideas in an engineering department that is stuck in 20 year old software engineering practices.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company to an organization that knows how to manage growth and expenses, leverage the technology and its patents.
