I have been working at Novartis full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Personnel is genuinely valued. Work/life balance is truly brought to life. People development is extremely valued here. Culture is highly collaborative. Compensation is competitive. Benefits are first class. If your in the right department and on the right team, the term "Team Work" finds its meaning.

    Cons

If you're not in the right department or on the wrong team, the environment can be extremely competitive and passive aggressive. Interdepartmental tasks can feel segmented. Opportunities can be limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure challenges and growth in responsibilities go hand in hand with compensation if there is no position to 'grow into' after a few years.

    Pros

There are ton's of interesting events going on all of the time. Each month they hold a big Fiesta for the employees with more food than you can imagine. Also they have discussion forums and open events for employees to learn more about the science Novartis is working on.

    Cons

It is a big company, you can get lost in the shuffle. I have been a contractor for over a year and a half.

I have been working at Novartis as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

forward thinking, new technologies, innovative, interesting work, great science, freedom to work on things. They always are trying to do more for science, which is great and if you want to learn more about that science there are many opportunities for you to do so, even as someone in IT. Good mix of people, and everyone wants to help.

    Cons

trying to consolidate all the technologies in to coherent deliverables. As a company that has grown and taken things, people and technologies with it, it is in the process of trying to consolidate those and make it more coherent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More structure
