I worked at Novo Nordisk full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, great culture, semblance of work life balance, 401 K matching

    Cons

Too many systems in place that get in the way of efficiency. Complex office politics. Midsize pharma in its teenage phase, trying to grow up too fast and too quickly and losing a bit of what made it great in the process.

    Pros

Friendly culture. Top notch people. Top notch facility.

    Cons

The culture is somewhat blinded by "group-think". Everyone falls in line and does what the boss wants. If the boss tells a joke, everyone laughs! This is good to a point, but I think it may go a bit too far in the case of Novo Nordisk.

    Advice to Management

Allow an opportunity for all to voice a dissenting point of view.

Previously great company falling into same pitfalls of historical big pharma. Growing too fast. Bloated. No strat plan.

    Pros

401K Match, Company cars, Company meetings are always tasteful and luxurious.

    Cons

Career advancement is difficult as upper management is entrenched. Poor human resources and legal team processes.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. Don't grow the amount of people but pay your good people appropriately to deliver they key priorities. Don't start nickel and dime your employees.

I have been working at Novo Nordisk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, (now reduced) company car, nice colleagues

    Cons

Changes- It is not what "it used to be" due to new executives, decreased sales and healthcare reform.

I have been working at Novo Nordisk full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good compensation and international career development opportunities. Time-off policies generous.

    Cons

The quality of senior management varies greatly throughout the organization. Positive experience depends on location and manager. Lack of transparency around promotions and employees not kept to equal standards.

    Advice to Management

Invest in professional development for managers.

I worked at Novo Nordisk as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful office space, good company culture, comfortable facilities. Novo is making great strides in the field of diabetes.

    Cons

I was assigned a mentor who had never had a direct report before. Some employees lacked communication skills.

I have been working at Novo Nordisk full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, Financial outlook is very good, Exposure and opportunities at a global level

    Cons

Management and Leadership changes. Employee survey at the function group level is engineered by function managers. This allows for managers to keep their favourites loyal to them to get higher rating on the survey. It is so much against the grain for rewarding and growing talents.

I worked at Novo Nordisk as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

A great company to work for with friendly coworkers who are willing to help you settle in.

    Cons

There were none, except for me it was a contract position and all they did was keep extending it.

    Advice to Management

need to acknowledge hard working employees even contract employees and at least offer them a perm position otherwise they end up leaving.

I have been working at Novo Nordisk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

NNI, and specifically the BioPharm division, is focused on delivering real value to society. The commitment extends beyond our products to the overall business approach with a focus on financials balanced with environmental and social progress. In my experience, the people have been excellent to work with, and leadership tries to do the right thing. There is minimal bureaucracy in BioPharm, and field employees' perspectives are actively solicited, even though they are not always aligned to. Pipeline and future prospects look solid - certainly better than the industry-at-large Salaries are good and benefits are great, though slightly less so than they used to be.

    Cons

Systems and processes haven't kept up with growth. Due to the small size of BioPharm, there is also some challenge in career growth, unless you're willing to switch to diabetes taking a half-step down. Current leadership is rightly looking for ways to tighten our belts, but also is changing some of the cultural/symbolic aspects of the company that many here love and rely upon as a source of loyalty.

    Advice to Management

Lead us through our current challenges, but keep the US culture in mind when making cost-cutting decisions.

    Pros

Awesome facility, staff and management. Lots of special days and occasions to make staff feel appreciated.

    Cons

Dealing with irate clients can be draining

    Advice to Management

Don't exclude your temporary workers so much. They do most of the work!
