Overall, great to work for for someone looking to work in a friendly environment.

    Cons

Narrow therapeutic pipeline, some nepotism, promotions not always to most talented and complacent leadership

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent about growth opportunities and don't mislead.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Good product pipeline. Good benefits. Never done mass-layoffs.

    Cons

Culture has changed over the years as the number of employees has grown. Call data metrics highly scrutinized. Sales numbers, as with all Pharma, highly unreliable and inaccurate

    Advice to Management

Do not lose sight of culture as company grows. Please do not over saturate market with additional reps. Focus on new products and cost/managed care coverage.

    Pros

Great products. Great salaries. Growth of the company.

    Cons

Majority of the African American District Managers were put on performance review plans or fired without warning in 2009-2010. They hired approx 20 AA District Sales Managers in 2007/2008. Prior to that there were only a handful out of 500. There was a Black female head of sales that created the diversity during a massive expansion in 2007. She left "under amicable terms" two years later and within 8 months, the majority of the District Managers that were hired with stellar performances prior to coming to Novo Nordisk were suddenly put on PIP'S for minor reasons, fired without warning, or passed over for promotions. Five Managers went out on leave of absence due to the stress and are no longer with the company. Approx 6 were fired for minor reasons (a few over the phone), a couple managers quit on their own due to stress and pressure and a couple of them remained but we're not happy. All of this occurred within one year after the US Vice President of Sales left the company. The National EEOC was involved in addition to various lawyers which gave some managers severance (despite the company was NOT downsizing) with the requirement that they had to sign a gag order forbidding them from filing a lawsuit. Approx 95% of the African American Managers that went through this yearlong ordeal of being singled out, we're originally recruited from larger Pharmaceutical companies like Abbott, Merck, and Pfizer. The accomplishments and successes the managers had were no comparison to the lack of experience many of their Novo Nordisk colleagues that were promoted internally had. NONE of the 18+ managers that were negatively affected are in pharmaceuticals any longer and have chosen different career paths due to this terrible ordeal. I do not recommend this company for African Americans who are looking for advanced Sales Management careers.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a more stringent process and full investigation into the discriminatory practices of higher management.

    Pros

The company culture and benefits are awesome.
    Strong products and pipeline.
    Overall great co-workers.

    Cons

    Too many reps per territory
Some managers will move up the ladder at all costs, Mainly the reps that work for them.
Becoming too much like big pharma.
It's all about the metrics now.
Lot's of politics and back stabbing.
Too much focus on meaningless metrics.

    Advice to Management

You are becoming too much like big pharma. Just because an individual is a great sales rep doesn't mean they will be a great manager. Some are horrible managers that don't have your back.

    Pros

    Cons

Changes- It is not what "it used to be" due to new executives, decreased sales and healthcare reform.

    Pros

Benefits are great and include child care for field reps who need to work conventions, dinner programs etc.

    Cons

Has turned slowly into big pharma and backstabbing mentality. Most everyone is feeling uncertain about their future and distrustful of each other

    Advice to Management

too much focus on CPC its ridiculous. One call can last three hours but we are dinged if we don't get 9+
a prerequisite for RFTs. RBMs and DBMs should be that they have won COE on a national level at least once. Why should a DCS have a dingbat RFT "train" them? If DMs are managing for sales than they need to prove it first!
