I have been working at Novozymes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Novozymes is a laid back atmosphere, with really great people. Being a Danish company its got a real global presence.

    Cons

A lot of the perks of the job have gone downhill in recent years (stock options are nonexistent now, no more allowance for fitness related expenses). They seem to bend backwards to attract new hires, but dont do much to retain skilled and experienced employees. They pay the bare minimum to keep people there and claim that the 'perks' of working there make up for the lack of salary.

I worked at Novozymes full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company is pretty good and a lot of smart people work here. Lots of family fun activities

    Cons

I am not sure if promotions are truly meritocratic? A lot of Danes seem to get promoted faster and the group I worked in was clearly prejudiced against other races.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good research is not borne out of KPI's and Gantt charts. Treat employees with trust and the R & D productivity will increase several fold.

I have been working at Novozymes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Strong and fun culture, good pay and generous benefits, flat organization with little hierarchy and power distance, focus on employee wellness (including employee gym), focus on innovation and creativity rewarded, renowned global sustainability leader, stable growing business.

    Cons

Danish-centric leadership and management leads to limited career advancement opportunities for foreigners. Szichophrenic budget process and allocations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop ex-patting Danes to foreign countries and focus on developing talent wtihin those countries for middle/upper management positions--especially women. Open your eyes to the fact that Novozymes isn't the best at everything and utlimately will need larger, more established partners to compete and win in certain industries.

I have been working at Novozymes as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Novozymes has a lot of good people that are nice to work with making it a nice environment to work in. There is also a lot of good science.

    Cons

As with any company/ business, there are always politics, sometimes that makes dealing with some coworkers tricky. Politics always make a work environment harder, but they are a fact of life.
