Pros
Nice executive group with strong leadership
Cons
Bad company location in a rural city
Pros
-At least on the retail end of things employees are not micromanaged, in fact we are not really managed at all
-The new retail stores are asethically pleasant environments to work in
-The only stress of the job comes from having to deal with all of the insanely non-sensical decisions upper management makes.
Cons
-Pay raises are infrequent to never
-Employees never move up in ranks as they always hire people from the outside (usually people who are friends or family members of someone who is already in upper management, I have literally never seen anything like this before in my life)
-Upper management makes really bad decisions and then blames the employees for the fallout of these decisions when we had nothing to do with the decision making process (our opinions are never asked and are certainly not valued) Nutraceutical really believes that corporate "managers" sitting in an office who have never worked retail at a supplement store or any store for that matter know more about how to run these stores (all of which are different) then the people at the stores, many of whom have been in the industry for a really long time.
-The only feedback that we ever get is almost always negative. If you are not going to give people raises at least give them compliments as those are free!!!
-The communication between the stores and upper management is for the most part non-existent (as far as I can tell anyone who sits in an office even if they are a retail "designer" are considered to be "upper management" and the bosses of the people at the retail level no matter how inexperienced these people are in regards to this industry)
-This company is definitley taking advantage of the current job market by having had issued a "raise freeze" until the economy gets better, which they know most people will put up with as the job market is abysmal right now. The economy is not going to get better anytime soon and this industry has actually seen a lot of growth even during the economic downturn, perhaps if Nutraceutical had people running things that actually knew what they were doing we would be doing even better than we were prior to the recession. If the job market were better all of the really good employees would leave and who would stay would be all the bad to mediocre employees which is not a way to build a successful business.
-Upper management concerns themselves way too much with things that don't matter but seem to act as though they have all the time in the world to respond to a situation which requires immediacy.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to Nutraceutical management is that you should take a course in how to motivate and treat people. Operating on a ridiculous level of secrecy concerning matters that should be public knowledge makes people feel extremely disrespected. Also, if you want to become more profitable give pay raises to the people who work and do their jobs well as they will become even more productive, fire those who don't do their jobs well, and stop hiring superfluous people for superfluous posititons (how come you have money to hire people for jobs that should not even exist but can't give people who have been loyal workers of the company for many years raises???!!!!!) Most corporations make one person do the job of 4 people, at Nutraceutical they have 5 people doing the work of one person, this is what most business would call being really inefficient.
Pros
good compensation, good benefits, good bonus, health insurance, professional attire required and good people.amazing environment, dental plan, 401 k and other benefits all provided. paid vacations.
Cons
bad management, no scope of growth.
Pros
Good Pay
Good Benefits
Nice office
Good office moral
Nice boss
Cons
No sense of urgency to finish projects
Hard to get an answer
When I did put in my notice to leave (because I had decided to move back home) I was ignored for the remainder of my time there.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall good, but when you start a project you need to have some timeline to finish it. Not just we'll figure it out as we go.
Pros
Flexible work hours. Company is growing steadily. Stable if you plan on staying for a long time. Brand new offices in Ogden are really nice. Education reimbursement for good grades
Cons
Benefits have gone from sub-par to abysmal in the past few years. Company is divided into two competing halves. Decisions are made on a whim by unqualified persons with no avenue to debate. Work goes unappreciated.
Advice to Senior Management
Open the lines of communication without the fear of termination. Place people in positions of authority based on competence, not nepotism and favoritism.
Pros
The company pays for lunch everyday, and everyone sits together for a nice meal, giving you a chance to socialise. Work is very efficient and everyone is very versatile, and the management are very nice and helpful when dealing with any situations that could arise.
Cons
No metro or tram nearby, only a few buses nearby, unless you take a bit of a walk. It's a small branch, so I would guess that there are limited promotion opportunities without relocating.
Pros
Casual work environment, not too stressful. Good industry to be in right now. Park City is beautiful with little crime or traffic.
Cons
Senior management is ethically-challenged. No career advancement opportunities or training provided. Health care benefit package is illegal under new laws. Pay freeze implemented while company was profitable and making close to 175 million per year.
Pros
Great co-workers
Flexible schedule
Amazing products
Fun Working Environment
Cons
Very strict policies
Poor medical benefits
poor communication skills from certain Management
Pros
A job at Nutraceutical is better than unemployment (barely). Nutraceutical has hired some very intelligent and talented people that were pleasant to work with. The work schedule was flexible. Discounts on product purchases (if you like supplements).
Cons
unbeleivable micro management from top management, poor pay raises, continuously diminishing benefits (especially health insurance), few opportunities to use skills, little independence, company has no marketing strategy or top line sales growth, very poor morale.
Advice to Senior Management
You have succeeded in making the people you depend on most (your employees) into your worst enemies. Morale is in the tank and employees don't care if the company succeeds any more. You need to turn that around, but it will take a complete overhaul of executive management and years to turn morale around. Watch out as the economy continues to improve. You won't be able to keep the employees that make it happen.
Pros
Flexible work hour.
Well paid.
Friendly co workers.
Cons
Micro managing.
Creative thinkings are not welcomed.
Slow management decision making.
Advice to Senior Management
CEO should stop managing everything. It affects an employee's motivation.
