Pros
Friendly atmosphere, oppotunity for advancement
Cons
Lay off policy includes letting go the highest paid first not the newest employees
Advice to Senior Management
You get what you pay for
Pros
mostly in-house contact center operations (not out-sourced)
generally nice facility with gym, cafe, and lounge areas
with everyone jumping ship there are plenty of open opportunities for current employees to step into
Cons
disconnect between departments
people in marketing department favored
hard work is not rewarded or recognized
shoddy work is rewarded and recognized
general lack of good leadership
annual review process seems to change each year
favoritism for raises and promotions
unchecked nepotism
hr is unable to keep quiet
poor celebrity management
Advice to Senior Management
Think things through before implementation. Don't just throw things at the wall to see what sticks. Quit relying on promotions to "save the quarter". Put money into R&D to develop new and better products instead of trying to reinvent the same product. Work on finding relevant celebrities that have actually lost weight on the program (and not some old formulation of it).
Pros
Beautiful workplace, great in house benefits.
Cons
Uncertainty about the strength of the company. As a marketing firm for weightloss products they fail at marketing.
Advice to Senior Management
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." (Benjamin Franklin)
Pros
Good learning environment, company has a good e-commerce web site using latest technologies.
Friendly workmates, good mix of contractors and full time employees in the IT department.
Cons
Two rounds of retrenchments over past five years, so business is closely related to sales cycles and if sales are down the contractors will be the first ones to get the axe, but that's business.
Pros
As a supervisor the benefits & salary w/commission was good 2-3 yrs ago.
Cons
Unexperienced upper management and no communication. If you're not part of the butt kissers, you won't be there long. There is too much change everyday. It's hard to be on the same page when there is no communication.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire a real experienced upper management team. Tenure doesn't mean your qualified. Learn to think decisions from A-Z and not A-l so that the end results are positive.
Pros
Nice folks doing a good job.
Cons
Benefits cut when time are tough.
Pros
Company is providing a good service to the community
Cons
No strategic plan for the company
Pros
Good earning potential but not what they say.
Cons
Zero growth unless you a one or two of the chosen ones per year. Even that doesnt make sense because they never promote the best employees. You can ask three sups one queston and get three diff ans. This comp just lost 30% of its stock and the blame poor sales on everthing but themselves.
Advice to Senior Management
Replace yourselves...i'm not being mean...its time!
Pros
Benefits are pretty good. health, vision, dental, 401k , education reimbursement etc. But it's well deserved by all you have to deal with!
Cons
Management is unexperienced and doesn't care about how their constant ridiculous decisions affect the employees doing all the real work. Little to no respect for the employees. You get ahead at this company only when you're loud, unprofressional, obnoxious and inconsiderate of others.
Advice to Senior Management
Instead of putting so much energy into "the customer 1st" approach, they need to concentrate on "the employee 1st" approach. Employee satisfaction = Customer satisfaction
Pros
-Ability to make half decent money in peak season
-New pretty building w /gym (once it finally opens)
-Popular product
-Employee discount
Cons
-Sales directors/managers that create an unapproachable environment
-Call center managers creating a bully, no respect environment (I've had conversations w/ the back of heads)
-Managers & directors w/ no real management experience (being employed @ the company for 6-10 years doesn't qualify anyone as an effective manager, just means your a dinosaur in a place w/ such horrible turnover)
-Lower management frightened of upper management
-Extremely low moral & no camaraderie
-Sales reps constantly in fear of having their phones turned off or put on a bad line
-No set protocol, constant changes of the rules & job description w/ no given notice
-No paid time off & sick time that eats up your vacation time (God forbid you get the flu & have the nerve to still want to take the family vaction that you paid for)
-Product compete w/ QVC, Costco, Walmart, etc @ lower price points
Advice to Senior Management
-Be ever aware that without a sales staff there would be no job for you to fill. As much as you would like for this to be an online company, there's simply no better way to sell such an emotional product w/out emotion ie. humans.
