ProsGreat people to work with, nice employee discounts...

ConsUpper management becomes disconnected-forgetting what it's like to be down in the store.

It was decent, but not amazing.

Parts Specialist (Current Employee) Rexburg, ID

ProsI love cars, it was fun to help diagnose peoples issues and in general talk about cars.

ConsCustomer service is not always the best. I do not like to be chewed out by people that don't understand anything, it is frustrating sometimes.

    Run away. Fast.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe paycheck. Free "gym" if you're into that kind of thing. And by gym I mean one room with a few treadmills, bikes, and weight machines.

ConsToo many to count. If you want to work for a company that pays so low it's a JOKE and people actually talk about and laugh about it as if it's funny to have great workers and pay them next to nothing, this is the job for you. If you like completing lengthy assignments only to be told to re-do them at a manager's whim, this is the place for you. If you don't want ANY personal, vacation, or sick days for your entire first YEAR of work, this is the place for you. Get sick? Too bad. Have a sick kid that needs to go to the doctor? Expect to get fussed out because you took precious company time off to take care of yourself/your family. If you have any kind of life at all outside of work, this is not the company for you. They tell you they are flexible and make the job sound amazing to get you in the door and then you realize how crappy it really is. Low pay, low morale, walking on eggshells, no proper training, no benefits (the "great" healthcare plan is a joke; you pay insane premiums and co-pays and then still owe tons out of pocket), no time off for having a life, and ridiculous expectations, you want to work for O'Reilly!

    Assistant manager

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) San Antonio, TX

ProsGet to know the customers and learn a lot about parts

    ConsLong hours....
    No help....
District manager is only in it for himself....
    Very understaffed....
Don't expect pay raises to be great when they promote you.....
Pay raises only come yearly and they will do everything in there power to give u the minimum...
It's a real sales driving company, the more the store they are happy but don't expect anything from it.....
Moment you put your 2 weeks in, they will find any reason to fire you.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your team members complaints before it get to the point of where you lose good people to your competition... And please let all team members be aware that taking catalogs that we give out to our installer customers, is a way for y'all to fire them... Cause it's considered "company property" which is bull!

    Retail sales Asst. Mgr.

Retail Service Specialist (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsWorking in automotive can be interesting and challenging. Managers are for the most part knowledgable.A good chance for advancement if your willing to work hard for it.Flexible schedules .

ConsYou're on you feet for 8 hrs, This company has changed hands more times than I care to remember. Formly Kragen's Each time it goes down hill.I still have friends that work there W/ no raises in years. Now it's 10 an hr. plus commission. Basically you're lucky you have a job.Usually under staffed .Employees are given lip service.I'm glad I got out.

Advice to Senior ManagementYears ago they treated their employees much better and payed better. Now it's pretty much bottomed.I would only recommend this as a part time job to someone under 25 yrs old.

O'Reilly Auto Parts, a good place to work.

Regional Field Sales Manager (Former Employee)

ProsI enjoyed the people that I cam into contact each day, in the stores and in the field. The overall outlook for the company is positive from an investment standpoint. The expansion of the company into new states is a huge incentive to work for them.

ConsAs a regional field sales manager there was way more travel than I wanted. Although there is a vehicle allowance, the mileage rate was paid at less than 1/2 of federal mileage rate. Having a cell phone is required, but not enough compensation to pay the bill. Also your annual bonus is paid at 1/3 restricted stock with a 3 year maturity starting one year after it is first given. 2/3 of your annual bonus is cash but if you leave the company, you no longer have the stock available. So really you get scammed out of your earnings.

Advice to Senior ManagementAn RFSM needs to either have a smaller area of coverage, or be given a smaller store count to maximize their effectiveness.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
