learned a lot, also great with college schedule

    Cons

district managers are dumb, pay increases were weak,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start recognizing when you have good talent working for you. I worked for you for 7 years and obtained bachelors and masters degrees in business while working nearly full time... you never attempted to keep me there... that is a major flaw on your upper managements part to keep good people in your company.

I worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Was able to transfer between 3 stores while in college

    Cons

Didn't like the fact you make more money through commission because students don't work as many hours.

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I started as a driver specialist knowing very little about cars. With the help of fellow team members and online training I have worked my way up to Assistant Manager in less than 2 years.

    Cons

Sometimes depending on staffing the scedule can get a little hectic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In my own words the managment is pretty good. At least in my district/region. Keep up the work.

    Pros

Good atmosphere in work place with employers. Good pay. Good hours.

    Cons

Patrons are sick. They degrade women and managers won't do anything about it unless they physically touch you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do something about the customers harassing your workers

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Opportunity to grow if you put forth the effort, nothing is handed to you. Commission plus salary.

    Cons

The hourly employees are a mixed bag. Some part timers are gold, some of the full timers are self centered and display a massive sense of entitlement. The company provides GREAT training, you just have to put forth the effort to learn. There IS growth opportunity. Just takes time to get moved up and get everything needed to move up. Slow competitor acquisition and upgrade the I.T. still using DOS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a lot of busywork in the company, which is very important, but if you're in a high volume store it's impossible to get done. As a store manager, work diligently at moving a hard worker up the ladder. Delegate effectively.

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Fast-paced work environment. Interesting work, not a boring as other retail. A lot of opportunity to move upward.

    Cons

Unfortunately, entry level and lower level manager pay is not very substantial, but pretty much equal to the retail industry average.

I worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There was plenty of work to do and checks were never late.
When you do really good customer service, they give you a Shamrock Award pin (still have mine)

    Cons

Worked without a weekend off for more than 18 months. Was promised things would change when ______ (fill in the blank). Our store operated at 18%-35% of allocated hours (we were always short staffed). Was encouraged to train off the clock (there is a lot of internal web training required).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value valuable employees. If you have X number of people work on a Saturday without the manager, you should be able to schedule X-1 when the store manager has to work (and give someone a weekend day off now and again).

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

My co-workers are excellent to work with but to be asked if there are any pros with the company my answer would be NO!!!!.

    Cons

The company should be embarrassed on what they pay there employees they want to pay minimum wage and only work you 20 to 25 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit expecting $15 dollars an hour worth the work for $7.95 an hour maybe if the company would pay a livable wage they would not have such a high turn over rate and happier employees that value there job.
