I worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I liked the people that I worked with and I like that the department I worked in tried to be fair in promoting team members. It's a steady job and I felt secure in my career there - at least until I was ready to move on to other things.

    Cons

There seems to be a "good 'ol boy" mentality. I worked with higher ups in other departments that really were not very good at their jobs, they just got there because they were friends with someone important. That was frustrating on many levels, but mostly because it made my job more difficult because the 'team' wasn't adequate at times. There are many good people working here, but in some instances, their income does not reflect their skill level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward some of the 'lesser' folks for the hard work that they do by paying them a descent wage. You will build a stronger workforce (eventually) if your employees feel appreciated; unfortunately O'Reilly's corporate office has some bad habits to overcome.

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Its a job and work is steady. The longer you work there is the longer you work there. Overall it is probably average for the type of employer in this niche.

    Cons

As a route driver you may not receive compensation for all hours worked. Management is not so bad but there persists the feeling that they could do more to promote satisfied employees or simply team spirit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more willing to listen... really listen to employees and not just "play the part". Do what you say you do.

I worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts

    Pros

Love interaction with my customers, I loved resolving their issues, amazing feeling when I accomplish things on my own, rewarding my crew for meeting goals.

    Cons

Absolutely no cons, working at orielly was an amazing adventure,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My best saying to my crew was" the drop stop 30/30. Meaning acknowledge the customer within 30 seconds, drop what your doing before 30 feet of entrance. Not literally,, but let them know they have been seen and welcomed before they wonder off without being acknowledged
